I don’t know where to start. Before checking in I asked a few questions about heating/AC in the rooms as well as asking to be be away from lifts all of which was responded to very quickly, there was admittedly a couple issues after checking in BUT they resolved this with such little fuss, speed and professionalism and warmth it would actually be unfair of for me to even elaborate on it. ||Yes the hotel is not in the main tourist part of Shanghai, but the metro is a 5 minute walk away and the metro system here is superb. It’s in a new up and coming part of Shanghai and I suspect 5 years from now there will be a lot more happening in the area, but if you like lots of designer shops you will be right at home here ( well in Shanghai in general as every other shop is Chanel,Dior, Louis V,Prada, etc ) I didn’t come here for the shopping as it’s all cheaper for me in Europe but I stayed here to get a bit of luxury and boy did I get it.||Due to the issue with my room which to be fair was because the engineer said he couldn’t fix the AC so I had to be moved, they upgraded me to an executive. The basic room was lovely enough but the executive rooms are off the charts fancy.. it is so high tech yet not over the top modern in design which can often look cold and industrial. The under floor heating in the bathroom, the twin sinks, the lovely bath tub, the 2 double beds, the wireless charging in the bedside table drawers and the in room water filter machine! WOW! I was speechless. ||Francesco and Bob were fantastic, Francesco is from Spain so we instantly just clicked both being from Europe, lol. Bob who checked me in was so lovely, spoke excellent English and was just a genuinely lovely man, and finally my beautiful Georgia who was a duty manager on the day I checked in was wonderful, she was so happy and cheerful, and could tell she took great pride in her job and and really didn’t want her guests to feel dissatisfied in any way.||I can’t give this place enough praise and when I return to Shanghai I will definitely book here and recommend this hotel to friends. ||The gym is top class, I mean reallllllly good to the point that I would say so far this is probably the best gym I have been to EVER, it’s even better than my monthly full gym at home in the uk, lol, and the pool looked amazing but I didn’t bring my swim wear so I didn’t get to use it. ||The only minor criticism which I already shared with them is for the ladies in the lounge to be more personable towards foreign guests, they are so worried about their English skills they distance themselves and inadvertently don’t make us feel welcome, but I know it wasn’t their intention, and they are being way to hard on themselves, their English is fine/ enough to get by on, and we now have so many apps we can use use to communicate with each other. I would never expect to go to a country and they bend over backwards to speak my language but equally I don’t expect them to hide from me either because of fear of communication, but to their credit they really did interact with me much more the next day which is why I can’t take way from the top rating I gave them, plus maybe they should actually leave the evening canapés and drink out until the actual end (they started to pack up about 10-15 minutes before it was due to end) ||Check out was seamless, the man that checked me out was so handsome I really wasn’t paying attention to anything else to be fair, LOL. They even made sure I had a little take away breakfast, as we had to leave to catch my flight before breakfast was being served. ||This hotel should be the standard all 5* hotels aim for (LOOKING AT YOU, THE LANCASTER IN BANGKOK) the Shangri-la hotel is absolutely perfect and if you read my other reviews you will see for me to give this sort of praise and rating to a hotel it takes a lot, so well done! The room was stunning—spacious, elegantly designed, and filled with thoughtful amenities that elevated our entire stay. We loved that the couch area became a bed for our 6 year old son and even had a fold out door so that he could go to sleep before us parents. There was room for our travel crib for our 1 year old in there too! They gave our kids adorable Shangri-La hats and fans. ||The Horizon Club Lounge was a true standout. From the moment we walked in, the staff greeted us by name and remembered our preferences after just one visit. The service was warm, personalized, and consistently excellent. It made every visit feel special and personal.||Every member of the team, from the front desk to the lounge staff, was courteous, professional, and spoke excellent English, making communication seamless and the experience even more comfortable.
