Sheraton Shanghai Pudong Riverside — Hotel in Shanghai

I had one night stay at Sheraton Shanghai Pudong. I selected this hotel because of its prime location. However I was totally disappointed with the service quality here. It did not meet with the 5 star standard. The staffs were not friendly at all. I am Marriot member but they said because I booked the room via booking.com so they did not credit my bonus point. I booked via booking but I paid at the hotel, so it doesn’t make sense at all why my stay could not be credited for the points. Secondly about the horrible deposit procedure. Normally hotel just freezes the deposit and my money will be returned instantly. But this hotel charged the deposit to my card. And when I checked out, they said the money will be returned after 7 to 10 days because it was international card. if so when I checked in, the staff should inform the deposit procedure and timing need to wait 7 to 10 days for money back. Lovely room, very spacious with everything I could possibly need. Everything was clean apart from some marks on the window. The lobby area was beautiful and there seemed to be plenty of places to chill out there - including a handy cafe with snacks & hot drinks. Location was very good. Ten minutes walk to the nearest metro station at Xiepu Road. Good links on Line 14 to many of the sights I wanted to see. Stay away from this hotel! When we arrived to the hotel they gave us a different room from what we ordered- a much cheaper one. We went to the reception to get a poor reaction that the hotel is fully booked and this is what it is. After we insisted they moved us to the room that we ordered originally but the air conditioning didn’t work, the refrigerator didn’t work and electric switches and plugs that didn’t work well. The whole time we didn’t get any help from the staff, they laughed and didn’t offer any compensation for their mistakes of the room or the condition of the room.
