Recently spent three nights here as Hilton Diamond. The hotel is very modern and a bit flashy in the public areas. Front desk staff is very friendly, and at least a couple of the agents speak good English. Our room was upgraded on check-in to a one bedroom suite, with a balcony and excellent view of the mountain valley and distant mountains. The room meets Hilton standards - the living area is a bit oddly furnished but still comfortable.||||Breakfast is typical of Hiltons in China - a good variety of food of a decent quality. The hotel serves a lot of tour groups so the breakfast area could be a little hectic.||||The hotel offers a "happy hour" in place of an executive lounge for Diamond members, providing a free drink and snacks in the evening. The bar staff went out of their way to provide vegetarian snacks for us each day.||||Some small issues - the hotel has no ATM or currency exchange, despite the "hotel book" in the room saying that both of these are available. However, one of the front desk staff personally exchanged some money for us, which was greatly appreciated.||||The cable car up Sanqingshan is a short walk from the hotel. Tickets for the cable care are sold at the welcome center next to the hotel, not at the cable car station. The cable car takes you up the mountain but not to the top; from the top cable car station to the hanging walkways takes at least an hour of stair climbing so be prepared. It is worth it, but the stairs can seem endless. The mountain experience is quite different from Huangshan, where the cable car essentially takes you to the mountain top.||||We used private cars between Yushan and Sanqingshan. Drivers approached us at the Yushan bus station and outside the Hilton. We paid a little less than 150 CNY for two people. Regular bus service is also available during the day between Yushan bus station and just...
Read moreThis is an excellent hotel and you won't be disappointed if you choose to stay at the Hilton Sanqingshan. However, we gave it a 4 rating because of several small details that added up to one too many inconveniences for a first class hotel. First, we really appreciated the upgrade to a very spacious room, nicely furnished, clean room overlooking the river. The things that disappointed us included the very meager selection and poor preparation of food at the happy hour, the air conditioning that could not be adjusted for speed (the fan was always on high) or temperature (regardless of what setting we chose, it always seemed to be set at 20 degrees C), and the small supply and poor location of electric outlets. The Internet didn't work in the evening. The surrounding town is very strange. There are lots of half-built or empty buildings and very few restaurants. There were no early evening strollers -- either local or tourists. The people who were out in the evening seemed to be made up of locals sitting around or touts. The arduous Sanqingshan mountain walk is absolutely spectacular and we recommend taking it in full. We were the first up the gondola on a gorgeous sunny morning and barely made it back by sunset which came early as black clouds and rain rolled in at the end of the day. Sanqingshan is a must-see for anyone who loves mountain...
Read moreWe stayed here one night because we were visiting the Mount Sanqingshan and it is literally at the foot of the South side of the mountain. Perfect place if you want to visit the mountain in a more quiet and relaxed area. The hotel is very large and beautifully decorated - a bit too large for our liking because we kind of got lost in the vastness of it. It's of Hilton standards, so typical nice furnishings and large bathtubs in rooms. The staff were friendly and a couple of them spoke English - one of them in particular, the young man who appeared to be a restaurant manager type, went over and beyond to help us choose which foods to eat because of our dietary requirements. It is far from the central city, but there's a public shuttle bus that takes you directly to the hotel (practically, the shuttle station is a 2 minute walk next door to the hotel) for 12RMB per person or something ridiculously cheap. Very handy! All in all, a nice hotel for the...
