Read moreI stayed at Best Western Shenzhen Felicity Hotel in Luohu for 3 nights in July 2025
Unfortunately, my experience was not pleasant, mainly due to the hotel's misleading location. Online maps made it seem like it was just a 5-minute walk across the road from the Luohu metro station, but in reality, you cannot cross the road directly. You must walk around a long detour, which is especially inconvenient in heavy rain and when carrying large luggage — as was my case. This made going in and out of the hotel every day a hassle.
The walking route to and from the hotel was also very narrow, with no overhead shelter, so I had to walk under the scorching sun or heavy rain. Even worse, the path was shared with electric scooters, making it feel unsafe and uncomfortable every single time I went out or returned to the hotel.
In addition, the tap water in the bathroom had a muddy smell, which made brushing my teeth quite unpleasant. This raises concerns about water hygiene and maintenance.
On the last day, things got worse. It was pouring rain again, and I booked a ride-hailing car (¥9) online. However, I was shocked to find a sign at the hotel entrance saying ride-hailing cars are not allowed to enter the driveway. I had to wait at the entrance in the rain because the pickup point was far on the main road and the ground was slippery.
A young hotel staff member at the gate kindly offered to help. He said he could carry my luggage and walk me to the border area (around 10–15 minutes) since the car couldn't come in. I was very thankful and offered him ¥20 as a tip to show my appreciation. To my surprise, instead of saying thank you, he told me ¥20 was not enough and insisted on at least ¥30.
I was stunned, but gave him the extra money and left immediately. The whole experience left me extremely uncomfortable.
This incident made me wonder — was he genuinely helping, or was this a kind of scam? Either way, this is not what I expect from a hotel staff member. I hope the hotel can look into this and improve both accessibility and staff training...
Read moreThe Western Premier Shenzhen Felicity Hotel is conveniently located near the border between Shenzhen and Hong Kong, making it a strategic base for exploring nearby cities like Guangzhou. However, recent road and building upgrades have made access challenging, particularly for families with children or elderly members.
The hotel itself shows signs of age, but it caters well to tech-savvy guests with multiple plugs and USB charging sockets in the rooms. The rooms are spacious, though cleanliness could be improved. Some amenities, such as the Executive Lounge, are currently closed due to staffing issues.
On the positive side, the hotel features a 24-hour 7-11 store, which is handy for last-minute purchases or breakfast if you didn't opt for the hotel's breakfast package. However, the bathroom setup, with a tub that doubles as a shower, may not be safe for elderly guests, and the countertop space is limited for two people.
Overall, while the hotel has some convenient features and a good location for city hopping, it falls short in terms of accessibility and cleanliness.
Tips for Future Guests:
Plan Your Route: Given the ongoing road and building upgrades, plan your route to the hotel in advance to avoid any unexpected delays.
Accessibility Needs: If you are traveling with elderly family members or young children, consider the accessibility challenges and the bathroom setup.
Cleanliness Check: Upon arrival, check the cleanliness of your room and request housekeeping if necessary.
Breakfast Options: If you didn't book the breakfast package, the 24-hour 7-11 store is a convenient alternative.
Tech Needs: Bring your devices as the rooms are well-equipped with multiple plugs and USB charging sockets.
