Hard Rock Hotel Shenzhen — Hotel in Shenzhen

The Hotel staff was amiable and accommodating. Although very little English was spoken, the staff tried to speak Cantonese to my wife. We were upgraded to a suite which was clean and very big. Our package included a daily buffet breakfast and VIP lounge access for a light meal in the evening. We were given choices out of 4 sets. The set meal in the lounge was average but it was very cosy and quiet with all kinds of drinks available.The best part of the hotel was the bathtub with a view! The buffet breakfast was OK. Tea and coffee were very average. You get better quality from your room. There are a variety of international cable TV channels. To my disappointment, the very latest international movie collections come with a daily flat rate. The size of the TV is a bit small compared to the size of the suite. The sound bar was fantastic though.We were very happy that we did not smell cigarette smoke in the hotel except near the smoking venue. The hotel is very easy to get to by the underground train. The hotel is conveniently located for a golfer planning to play golf at Mission Hills Golf Club. But the hotel lacks useful facilities of value to travellers. The swimming pool is really a bathing place for children. The gym is fine, but apparently very seldom used by hotel guests. F & B outlet is pretty basic. With many outlets around in the Mission Hill shopping mall, the hotel restaurants must find it hard to compete with those across the road. Design and layout of the room is weird. Towels are clearly very old, clean but clearly worn out. The large bathing tub in the room is clearly a waste of money and space. The towels probably have not been changed since the opening of the hotel. Members of Mission Hill Golf Club apparently may enjoy special room rate to book a room through MH golf club, but this has never been made known to members of the golf club. More promotional dialogue is needed with the members in order to expand the guest base...

This is a very comfortable and well maintained hotel. The rooms are clean and the beds are very comfortable without the usually hard mattresses you find in China. The restaurant has the typical Hard Rock Cafe menu with several more Chinese style dishes added. I recommend adding on breakfast to your stay. It is a full buffet with both Western and Chinese options. There are two things to be aware of before your stay. The hotel is a 45 minute taxi driver from the Louhu border and would be a long drive from the airport as well. The area is not a downtown area but does have a mall across the street. Also, there are two doors to the bathroom and both are striped glass so it is not the most private bathroom. But, the toilet is behind 2 striped glass doors which does help and the rest of the bathroom does offer a great seperate shower and bath tub option.
