The room was excellent.I cannot describe the view because it was raining and foggy at the time of my stay. The bedding is excellent.I think for me that the best part is the climate control actually works here. I have stayed in 5 stars in China where this is often not the case. Additionally, coming into a room with 4 pieces of fresh fruit is always a nice touch, thank you. If you could just go one step further and provide a knife for cutting, that would have been wonderful. Wireless internet is a slow connection but is sufficient for reading and email etc.The bathroom amenities on hand were only two toothbrushes. There is a note on the box stating that if you want something that is not provided just dial 0. Anyway, I called for shampoo and housekeeping came with a small bottle of shampoo quickly. It was only later that I looked in the shower and saw 3 mounted dispensers for shampoo, creme rinse and body soap. Oh, well. Breakfast was okay. Service at breakfast was very responsive. I needed a late checkout and the staff accommodated me. When I came back to the hotel however my room card was deactivated - should have anticipated this, so I had to go back to the front desk -get another card- and return back to the 18th floor. So that was bothersome, but hey, I got a late check out with no hassle so I am not complaining. I will be staying there again on two weeks for 6 days and will write a follow-up review. Next time I plan on checking out the pool and will have my...
Read moreSpent a short one night stay in wonderful Suzhou. The Four Points was a good location for our specific visit which wasn’t tourism. The hotel was easy to find once off the highway and in a newer area, with plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. The hotel was a little too quiet, unexpected for a Saturday night but it allowed us a reasonably quick checkin. We headed to the room, which I noticed was extremely hot as we entered, I adjusted the thermostat down and then we went out for dinner. Upon our return 3 hours later, the temperature had not changed at all, the room still hot and stuffy at 27.5 degrees. We opened windows and changed the thermostat to just the fan and I spoke to the desk staff to have something done about it. They said they’d send up a fan, which never arrived and we just had to make do with this the whole night - trying to sleep as if it was summertime in the room and outside was winter. Woke up at 6am and the thermostat still read 27.5!! Certainly as a traveler we knew the hotel was implementing some kind of energy saving initiative but this showed that simply they didn’t care how guests felt.|Everything else in the hotel apart from this experience was quite good and if they could fix this issue I’d have no concerns about returning...
Read moreI had a great experience staying at this Four Points in January and decided to stay again in March when my wife and I visited Suzhou.
The staff were as welcome as usual. Room is clean and comfortable without showing aging of a quite established hotel.
Sitting by the beautiful Dushu lake, the location could not been more beautiful. We walked down the beach path leading to the park to visit the glorious Dushu Church. Well the scene is simply breath-taking in early spring.
We opted for the breakfast buffet at the Eatery, quieting sitting at the windows with quiet lake view and enjoyed the delicious buns, noodles and even familiar omelets you cherish heartily coming from the US.
For local eats, there are plenty of nearby restaurants to pick your style from, Sichuan, Northern or Southern and even the fast Papa John's.
We did enjoy the W on the other side of Suzhou with its gorgeous bar and modern bustle. I still find Four Points giving me a peace of mind, reminding me of the true Suzhou style of living and actually provided a much needed rest of the mind and body.
We will...
