Jinji Lake Grand Hotel Club — Hotel in Suzhou City

This is a grand and lavish resort hotel located in between Jinji Lake and Dushu Lake. The rooms are large and well appointed. If you're lucky, your room would have a great view of the golf course or park grounds. The bathroom is grand. Separate bath tub and shower. I liked the toilet because there was a mobile phone holder on the wall within arms reach. (See photo)||While the staff still struggle with communicating in English, I do appreciate the grammatically correct and easy to read English translations of room and hotel markings. Good job, Jinji Lake Grand Hotel.||If you like peace and quiet, and reconnect with nature, this hotel is for you. There is a zen garden and mini lake (or pond) next to the hotel grounds. And further out, there is a trail leading to a mini-forest and Dushu Lake. ||That said, the resort is not without its shortcomings. Unless you have a car, you are stuck with its restaurants. There are no external food establishments nearby or within walking distance because you are in the middle of a golf and resort complex. The nearest McDonald's is 20 minutes away by car.||Don't get me wrong, the hotel's restaurants are nice. They serve delicious Chinese food. But they get boring when you stay there for more than 2 days (which was my case).||But if that's not a problem for you (the meal selection), then I highly recommend this resort hotel in Suzhou. Very grand. Foreigner friendly....

Stayed for 2 nights to attend a conference on the hotel's premises. The resort is comprised of several buildings located within 10-15 minutes walking of each other. The largest is building 8 that housed most of the hotel's facilities, re: restaurant, conference rooms, spa etc. Hotel was overbooked and I was sent to building 1 and provided a suite that housed a sitting room, 2 bathrooms, kitchenette and a bedroom with a king-size bed. The room appeared new and well maintained and was nicely decorated. Bathroom came with a separate walk-in shower that provided good water pressure; however, sink did not drain well. Major complaint is the climate control; the temperature did not drop below 20 C that made sleeping difficult. There was no recourse to improve as the windows were sealed and despite several calls to the front desk, this issue was never resolved. Wifi was free but the signal was woefully weak and unreliable. The corridors to the room were also rather dark - most of the lights were turned off. Conference staff provided adequate service and the food (breakfast, lunch and dinner) was fair but not great, Grounds were beautifully maintained - this is a major asset of this facility. Hotel staff was most kind and helpful, attending to my every need !! Hotel grounds was peaceful and serene with ponds and many birds singing!! I had a very pleasant stay. Only one item I would improve: the small refrigerators in the mini bar don't seem to work. I changed rooms 3 times due to travel to Nanjing and other places and checking into hotel again. Each time I returned the refrigerator did not keep items cold. 😒
