This is a very fine property. Here was my experience.||||||1) Location. It's next to a decent size and beautiful park. It's surrounded by two rivers (or water paths), and along the river are some shops and restaurants. It lights up very pretty at night. Also right across the street is a major mall with IMAX. Overall, an excellent location that has plenty to do all within walking distance.||||||2) Check-in. As you walked in the ground floor lobby is extremely small because it's not the lobby, although concierge is there. Here is the confusing part. You have to take an elevator up to 35th floor, and as you come out you will be greeted with a decent size lobby and a big check-in area, also part of lobby bar. Of course if you are Platinum elite, then you would need to proceed to ANOTHER set of elevators (across) and head to 52nd floor where the Executive Lounge is.||||||3) Lounge: It's "big" as it's shaped like a thin rectangle shape that stretches around the building's corner. Check-in desk is by the entrance. Because the space is really stretched as a rectangle shape that wraps around a corner, the food and drinks placements are stretched out as well. You will see salad/fruit on a table, with hot plates against the wall, with more food dishes around the corner (not visible to you if you don't turn the corner), and then refrigerated drinks next to it. Also because of this lounge shape, chairs and tables are limited. The best seating for privacy is a set of table with sofas directly ahead of the entrance (they've put a blocker for privacy) and another set of sofas around a table to the right of it.||||||4) Services and Staff: the usual Asian (Chinese) friendliness and eagerness to solve your issues. Excellent lounge staff that recognize my elite status and reminded me of the benefits due to me.||||||5) Restaurant: here's the pet peeve. It's really hard to get to from your room. You would need to take a first set of elevators down to 35th floor. Then, switch to the elevator that only goes down to 1st floor (literally only 35th floor and 1st floor buttons in the elevator). After that, swing around to the right, turn a corner, and you will find a third set of elevators, that is the one that leads to the SENSES Restaurant (5th floor). BUT, that's not the end of the story. In typical Wenzhou style, the SENSES restaurant ONLY HAS BIG SUITES that seats 10+. Meaning if you are just one or a few people, they will NOT seat you in the suites. The best they will do for you is redirect you to a Hong Kong restaurant next door, that has open seating, and you can order food there. You can order SENSES food and eat it there, or simply order from the Hong Kong restaurant menu (limited).||||||6) Room - upgraded to a suite. Two gigantic size flatscreen TVs. Gave you a traditional Chinese tea set (kettle and cups). Nice sofa in living room with a big stretched table. A cushion seating against the windows in the bedroom, with an attached table in the middle. The only stinker is a very small round working desk. Can barely fit your laptop, cup of drink, and your mouse. Must be the smallest table in a hotel I've seen (including low-level hotels). Guess they don't expect people to actually work in their rooms. Also, not full carpeting. A round shaped carpet in the living room that's under the desk, and a round carpet under the bed. If you like hardwood floors than this room's for you.||||Overall this is by far the best hotel in Wenzhou, I would highly...
Read moreThe Westin Wenzhou is located on the top floors of a beautiful high-rise building in Lucheng District. The rooms are nice and clean, although a little small. ||||This is the second time that I have stayed at this hotel in the past year. As a Titanium Elite with Marriott, most properties will upgrade the room to a larger room, such as a corner room. However, both times I have stayed here, the only "upgrade" given was to a higher floor in the same room I have booked. The hotel is at very low capacity due to COVID, and for sure they have better rooms available. Anyway, I know that upgrades are not promised, and are at the discretion of the property, so it's fine.||||As I mentioned, the rooms are clean and nicely appointed. The hotel doesn't provide any lotion in the room (available upon request only), which is a bit strange. Additionally, the air conditioner is really good during the day time, but some of the cool air is stopped overnight, resulting in the room heating up during the night. Two nights in a row, I woke up before daybreak because I was sweating. When I went to bed, it was nice and cool, but when I woke up, it was warm in the room. ||||The executive lounge is nicely appointed, but the food is not very fresh and the wine was not good. The brand of the wine is fine, but all of the bottles in the wine dispenser were molded (on the outside of the bottle) and all of the bottles were open for more than three weeks (the bottles were opened on May 18, and I was in the lounge on June 5). The red wine was empty and when I asked the lounge staff if they had any red wine, she told me it was all finished. I told her that two days ago the red wine was also finished, and I asked her if anyone was going to restock the red wine. Finally, a bottle of red wine appeared from somewhere (the restaurant I guess). ||||I will stay at this hotel again due to it's location and nice rooms, but I do hope that the things mentioned above can...
Read moreGreat location and view, really friendly front-desk staffs. Over all experience is okay. There were two standout issues during our stay. One is the room temperature was very high, around 27-30 Celsius, and the air-condition doesn't work at all. Choose cool air mode and set 21 Celsius, the temperature won't go down as desired. The other issue was in 52th floor Club Lounge, one of the staff, Ann, was not friendly at all. We were trying to grab a quick snack before catch our flight (taxi arrives in 10 mins), but she wanted us to pay for it, because we just checked out. We were shocked because this were never happened before in other Marriott’s hotels. Then it took her over 10 mins to discuss this with her manager over the phone, and didn't give us any feedback. This is rude and not nice!! Not satisfied at all! I have been Titanium Elite member for years, and been to lots of Marriott's properties, such bad service and behavior...
