Brought my boys to Wuxi for an event. Booked Modena at a good rate via Expedia. All our requests were responded by the hotel swiftly, mostly favorable. Airport pick-up & drop-off was arranged. Alex Zhou was very prompt in corresponding with us. ||||Instead of staying for 3 nights, we extended a night stay as our flight departure was at 11.35pm. An extra night was charged but it was indeed a day/night well-spent.||||Airport Transfer: Good & new car. Very comfortable for 3 pax and our 3 big luggage. A nice driver too. We have changed a few time-slots for our airport drop-off but the team wasn’t frustrated at all. Sorry for that. It took us less than 15 minutes to reach Modena from Shuofang airport. ||||Check-in: ||Swift but a fairly unsmiling front-desk executive served us. It was really late when we checked in, might be around 11.40pm. We understood that...behind us were the crew from the same airline we took. My son forgot his hand-carry after we had gotten our keys & went up to our unit. Front-desk called to check & arrange the staff to hand it to us. Very thankful for the speed. ||||Our Unit: ||We are still very grateful to Alex who gave us a free upgrade from an executive 1 bedroom to a 2-bedroom unit. He said since I brought 2 teenage boys along, it would be more comfortable for them. Thank you so much. He sent an email to inform me about this before we flew over. So glad we had this 2-bedroom apartment. Clean & spacious. There are lots of storage space. Everyday, new house slippers were supplied to us. ||||Kitchenette has all the cutlery & utensils, everything was almost new. The stove was useful...we bought some noodles from the supermarket next to Modena...so convenient. ||||A square dining table with 4 chairs served the purpose...esp for meals & my boys to study. The only shortcoming was they did not have a drainer for us to drip dry our dishes & cookware as well as having no washing sponge & detergent :(. It would be good to have them, well, we bought the items from the supermarket next door. Small issue.||||Bedrooms:||Master bedroom had a king-sized bed, a wardrobe & a working desk/chair, plus a wall mounted TV. Comfortable. Bathroom had a long bathtub. Would prefer a standing shower instead. Everything was perfect...down to their detailed selection of toiletries. Very generous in fact.||||My sons had a twin-bedded room & a wardrobe. The common bathroom was outside the room. No bathtub but a good rain shower. Good to have facial tissue in here too. Small issue. Everything again, was perfect. ||||Living Room:||Spacious. TV had plenty of channels, mainly Chinese. || ||What we loved most was the double layers of glass windows in the apartment. We had good sleep. Corridors were quiet too. We didn’t even know there was a storm outside :)). So quiet was the environment. ||||Breakfast:||Simple buffet spread. No instantly made omelette. Would prefer to have slightly bigger mugs as we brought our own sachets of milo. ||||Gym/Laundry Room:||Compact. Next to lobby. There were 2 washing machines & 2 dryers. Buy tokens from front desk to operate (wash & dry - 20 yuan). We didn’t have time to wait for our clothes to be washed/dried, the nice aunty (caretaker) offered to help us to transfer washed clothes to the dryer. Thank you so much.||||Environment / Exterior of Modena:||Walking distance to several restaurants & eateries. There was a cinema on a second floor of the building next to Modena too. There was another 24-hour supermarket but on a smaller scale. There was a pizzeria, its quality of food was above average, but not the chicken wings. There were a few Korean restaurants (BBQ). An international church was located 5-7 minute away (after the eateries), on same street. See picture attached (those were the restaurants street). Another side of Modena was residential area. See picture attached (taken outside the supermarket next to Modena). ||||Front desk helped us to get taxis. Never had to worry at all. It took us less than 15 minutes from Modena to Taihu International Expo Centre. We took taxis to downtown where Centre 66 mall (up market) was located. Hai Ann Cheng Mall was not far either. ||||We had a really comfortable stay at the Modena. ||||Thanks to Alex, thanks to Grace. They were so patient with our requests. Thanks for making our stay so pleasurable. Thank you for retrieving my son’s watch from our unit after our car left for the airport. The front desk called our driver & the latter made a trip back to retrieve it. Thank you so much for...
Read moreWithin short driving distance to airport. Quick check-in process. Room keycard will stop the lift at your level, not other level, so good security. Room has own little kitchen with induction stove & microwave. Room pretty compact, hardly a space to open up a small luggage. Mattress, pillows & linens are great, to my liking. TV channel has English HBO & NatGeo, good enough for me. Remote indication is all in Mandarin, so good luck pressing every single buttons. Has DVD player too. Bathroom is clean, water pressure is strong, no bathtub. Room itself & hotel surrounding is pretty quiet, eventhough located near highway. Breakfast nothing to shout about, pretty standard. Approx RMB30 taxi drive to...
