Radisson Collection Hotel, Wuxi — Hotel in Wuxi City

Stayed at this brand-new hotel during our company’s business trip to Wuxi. Amazed by the facilities and in particular by their staff. The front desk team was very welcoming and friendly, in particular Xeniya, the Guest Relation manager from Russia. She showed me the room and took me on a short tour to our meeting room, very pleasant and agreeable making me feel like home. Hotel was quite busy actually, although just opened a short period ago. The room was spacious with wood floor (which I love), spacious bathroom and very tastefully decorated. Had welcome fruits, and access to the Executive Lounge. The gym and swimming pool is great, try to go early when there is no one. The Pool seems Olympic sized. The organized lunch was all local WuXi specialties, delicious and very stylish presented….quite surprised honestly speaking. Breakfast was great, all you need as an international traveler but the local Jian Bing and Shanghai Dumplings were additional touches. They also offer Starbucks coffee and I was introduced to their home-made own HongKong Milk Tea, very popular amongst the local population. For me, I preferred the bar cocktails…try the Tom Yang Spicy Gin Fizz…pretty cool. Actually, during my entire stay, I met Xeniya several times and she always guided me and helped me around, just like what you get back home in my home country Austria – very personalized attention we are used to but miss in this part of the world. WOW just WOW. THE best service from a 5 star hotel in China after 20+ years and hundreds of stays. Fair to say that a lot of hotels in China have the hardware (nice rooms and good facilities etc) but normally get let down by the software (service). This was an exception. Had serious issues with health codes and covid testing in Wuxi but Shumaila (Guest Service Manager) along with her Chinese colleague turned into Superwoman and Superman and went way beyond the levels of expected service for a 5 star hotel. First they accompanied me to the covid testing point (1 km away) but didnt stop there because i still had problems and had to go to the hospital to get tested (4 kms away). They helped order a taxi and Shumaila actually went to the hospital with me to ensure everything was ok! Also this was all done on her day off! Remarkable. Throughout my stay the service in the hotel was excellent whether it be at check in or out (quick) or in the restaurant and/or executive lounge area. The service was great, Conrad at the front door spoke English very well, as well as a few other staff members I came across. The hotel is elegant, and not too far from some tourist attractions for food and shopping. The gym is well equipped and quite spacious. Breakfast was overall nice, I would however recommend a few more Western choices such as bacon and fried potatoes or hash browns.
