The location of Pan Pacific hotel is excellent as it was a stone throw away to metro station. However, this hotel catered to a lot of tour groups and this hotel is very old already. The interior room design, well is old. I can see they did some mini touch up here and there. First time, i see aircon control is old-fashioned type, with a round button to turn for temperature. However, the first few nights was hot for me, as the aircon is centralised, and the internal aircon control do not work at all. Hence, you can inform the counter receptionist staff to do an adjustment in their central airon system. Hotel breakfast is quite the standard, quite a lot to choose from. However, I encountered some scams in their breakfast restaurant where some guests dressed like monks asking you to donate for some monies. Therefore, do take note on this. They try to create small conversations with you and try to predict your future, and of course ending is ask you to donate money. Not sure, why such a big hotel has such scam happening, i have been traveling for over 3 decades and this is my first time encounter of scam inside hotel. Hence, take note of this.. probably is just my luck. Staff are very friendly, polite and helpful. No doubt in that. The room i stayed is quite huge and overall is ok just that the bed...
Read moreFantastic hotel with amazing staff that are not only genuinely friendly but helpful and conversant in English. Pro's - great location close to a metro and walking or biking distance to restaurants and bars. Wonderful breakfast with wide selection of freshly cooked food. Gym was large enough for a workout. Room facilities all worked with enough hot water at all times of the day and night. Congenial staff from front door man to the breakfast host, cleaning staff and front desk. Internet good enough. View of the river from room. Big bed and bath - perfect for couples!Con's - room was too warm and cooling system didn't do much to cool the room - needed to open the door to get some air circulation. Spa wasn't open perhaps due to CNY. Television needs to be updated and some more cable channels added for movies when relaxing at night. Breakfast was too busy with too many people - perhaps this needs to be monitored more closely as the scramble for tables at 9.30am was very hectic. Advice to people considering Pan Pacific. I highly recommend this hotel as its great value for money but get down early to breakfast to...
Read moreThis was a very comfortable hotel. The room was spacious, with a good workspace area, lots of storage, a nice reading chair and table by the window, and a huge bathroom with both a large shower and a bathtub. They also supplied lots of complimentary bottled water. ||The location was good; there were quite a few shops in the area, including restaurants and places to buy snacks. I even got a haircut at a shop about a block from the hotel. ||The buffet breakfast was very good. On the first morning (which was a Sunday), every Chinese tour group staying in the hotel seemed to come down for breakfast at the same time, so the breakfast area was crowded and the staff had trouble keeping all the buffet items full. On the second morning (a Monday) it was much quieter, the staff could keep up easily, and everything was good.||I'm not sure about pricing, as this hotel was booked by a tour company (Laurus Travel from Vancouver). Also not sure about access to the metro, as the tour company had a driver and guide. ||Overall, I was very satisfied with the hotel, and would stay here again on a return...
