Well located with nearby Coffee and Ice streets offering high quality western style cafes, bars and and Pastry shops.Staff at the hotel are attentive and conscientious, however overly zealous about upselling the benefits of the club lounge rooms. Club lounge is small, doesn’t have much to offer by way of snacks. Very limited food options at breakfast. Doesn’t open of offer anything around lunchtime and has limited options for dinner. Ok if you’re a drinker, but range of spirits is small.Didn’t feel I received value for money for the upgrade. My clients and I ended up eating at the main restaurant for breakfast, which was not included in the club price? Also, the views from the club floor rooms were not river views- we overlooked the noisy bar street at the building across the road. Had a problem getting fruit to my room over my 4 day stay, so had to go out and buy Bananas for myself.Another issues was that despite leaving the room available and arranging with reception for housekeeping to clean the room in time for me to have a video conference call without interruptions, they did not and so, i was interrupted during my call and had to repeatedly explain and deal with housekeeping insisting on coming in!The last straw for me was when reception neglected to extend my stay as requested the day before and so I had issues with my card and with checking in again, so I simply booked into another, more welcoming hotel.Overall, the hotel is professional and well managed, but they do seem to have some problems co-ordinating back of...
Read moreThe Marco Polo is in a great location and the cleaning staff is superb. However when we tried to check in the staff was behind on cleaning the rooms due to “Chinese New Year” I would recommend that the MP hire temp staff to accommodate for the holiday season when they know they will be busy. As we’d come in from a long flight and hadn’t had much sleep in the process, it was really disappointing to have to wait an additional 2 and a half hours to get into our rooms and sleep in our beds. The other thing MP could improve on is their amenities. Since we have to put down a hefty deposit for our room in case of room service and additional surcharge it only makes sense that we should be offered full dining options during the times stated in the menu. My friend and i went out with the assumption that we would be able to order a midnight snack due to the menu having an all day section that said certain dishes would be available from 10:30pm to 6am. We were very disappointed when we called down to discover that the only options available were noodles. We even called TRIP to try and understand the reasoning behind this change but they just sent us in a loop back to the manager on duty who had no explanation. I expect more from a five star hotel. Lastly we were put in a nonsmoking floor however throughout the week I smelled smoke several times in the halls. While the hotel had great heating a nice bath tub and a good location, I would expect for the nuisances to be absolved upon my...
Read moreReally nice peaceful location. It's right beside the lake. We had a room facing the pool and the lake which was really nice. A real treat. We love using the pool (although only for a day due to Typhoon), the Gym, the playroom and the Sauna. The room is clean and has all the facilities we needed. The room is old looking and old fashioned. A really tiny TV and the hairdryer is from the 90s. 🤣 The hallway is musty (no air conditioning in these areas). It really does need some love and care. I am surprised that with the amount of money they charge a night, you would assume the management has some money for an upgrade. It's a pity. They substitute these with crazy friendly hospitality from the staff. However, I still don't find it justifying the price. Check-in and Checkout went real smoothly. We are very happy about it and every question was answered efficiently. Oh, last but not least, the bed and pillows are really comfortable. Kudos to the reception team and the...
