Formal Complaint of Personal Injury at Shangri-La Xiamen Hotel in China||Dear Shangri-La Group,||I am a Shangri-La Jade翡翠member 690187535664. I hold a Hong Kong passport and live in Hong Kong.||I am writing to formally complain (with possible further legal claims/actions) about my personal injury in the recent stay at Shangri-La Xiamen Hotel in China from Dec 8-13th, 2024. During my stay, I suffered from a personal physical injury caused by management negligence of the hotel. Moreover, the hotel management totally ignored my requests for reasonable compensations and never responded. ||When I checked in Shangri-La Xiamen Hotel on Dec 8th, 2024, the hotel sent free two bottles of Chang soda water (please refer to the attached photo 1) to my room as a special treatment for all EE professors and students. I never drink this brand soda water before and never see it in other Shangri-La hotels either. So I was not aware that this soda water produces a lot gas/bubbles and only matches a specific bottle opener, which is very cheap with a price of a little over RMB1, as told by my male classmates later on. The hotel waitress didn’t tell me how to open it and didn’t tell me there was a red wine bottle opener in the bar either (I never drink alcohol, including beer, so I never know how to open a bottle and never know there exists a bottle opener!). The waitress just left the two bottles in my room and was gone without a word. Later I knew from my classmates that their waiters/waitresses either told them how to open the bottle or put the red wine bottle opener together with the bottles. And even for some classmates, with the red wine bottle opener they still could not open the bottles (I have their written testimonies). For me, with no other options, I tried to figure out how to open the bottle with hands. But the iron bottle cap was pushed by the strong gas inside, it unexpectedly popped off and hit me in the center of my forehead and between my eyebrows, with an immediate bloody scar, very close to my eyes and very noticeable damage to my face! Read moreI booked a 4 nights' stay over the New Year period for my family and more importantly my 3 y.o. daughter to access their highly enjoyable Kids Club. I originally booked a Horizon Club room on Expedia but upgraded to an entry-level Executive Suite upon check-in at a fair price. The hotel's hardware was superb, everything was well-maintained and in tip-top condition including the suite room and the Horizon Club lounge. The bed was the most comfortable we've slept in among many 5-star hotels we've stayed in.||The ladies at the Horizon Club are very attentive, unfailingly polite and hospitable, not sure if it's a Southeastern China culture thing but it is very welcome. The level of politeness and courtesy we experienced here and in the previous 5-star Xiamen hotel facing Gulangyu gave us a very good impression of Xiamen and in our humble opinion has surpassed Japan's level although the service standards could still use room for improvement.||The Kids Club was actually the main reason we booked the Shangri-La Xiamen as we needed an all-in-one hotel for our kid to burn her energy and have plenty of playtime. We were not disappointed. The indoor kids playground was very well-designed and allowed for hours of fun for the kids.||The hotel was also strategically located at Guanyinshan Beach (via an underpass right in front of the hotel) and we could access the beach easily.||Alhthough there were minor annoyances during check-in and with the bill, the hotel's manager quickly resolved them to our satisfaction. The staffs in Horizon Cub are well trained and very attentive , special thanks to Karin and her team, Bella , Clair..for their exceptional service made us a wonderful and memorable living experience . From the the moment walked in to the moment left, the service was immaculate. ||||The Spa was also very good, food in Chinese Restaurant was very tasty ! The location hotel is very easy to access the most beautiful Xiamen Island Ring Road, which you can do a nice 20 or even 42 kilometres running and enjoy the incredibly beautiful scenery of Xiamen international Marathon coastal route.||||||Being the Marriott Ambassador Elite and Hilton Diamond, I used to traveled with Marriott or Hilton properties when I came to Xiamen, they have many hotels here. It was my first time with Shangri-Xiamen, and everything so far was good ||||I often spent our weekend in Shangri-La Island Hong Kong and Kowloon , I just finished the Christmas Holiday with family in Shangri-La Tokyo , our coming CNY holiday will be with Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur. ||||As small thing need to mention, Had lunch with my friend in Fu Gong Chinese restaurant . food was great . but service was not well matched . After the meal ,I liked to charged the bill to my room 2209, but girl said I did not have enough deposit and denied , but actually I put 20,000 RMB down payment when I did the checked in , we waited for another 30 minutes to confirm, I felt very embarrassed in front of my friend . I never encountered such ridiculous issue in other hotels , never mention I am the Diamond Elite and how come not allowed to charge 458 RMB...
