I stayed at Wangyi Inn over three non-consecutive nights (across a five-day period), and I can't rate it highly enough.||||The rooms are very modern, clean and spacious. The bathroom is excellent and the shower temperature and water pressure were both very good.||||More generally, the hostel is nicely designed and is filled with various collector pieces (old cameras, records, photos etc) collected by the owner.||||What really made Wangyi Inn great, though, was the people there. From Lynne at reception to Patricio who picked me up from the airport, all the staff and others associated with the hostel were friendly, welcoming and helpful. The owner himself would regularly hang out in the lounge/reception area and chat to guests (in Chinese). Various friends and relatives of the owner would also come to the hotel and drink tea while chatting to guests. They were also very generous in sharing their food.||||The travel advice about Zhangjiajie and other places was excellent, and it's clear that the owner himself really has a passion for travel – in fact, he was planning his own trip to southeast Asia while I was there. The hotel staff also helped me book a ticket for the glass bridge at the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon, which needs to be done in advance.||||The hotel was't particularly cheap, but it was worth every cent.||||I can highly recommend Wangyi Inn and can honestly say that it is one of the best places that I have...

Read moreI was excited to stay at the Wangyi Inn even before my trip to Zhangjiajie, and it still exceeded my expectations! The staff was like family and I've made some lifelong friends. I arranged for a pickup from the airport and was lucky enough to have Emma come along with the driver to greet me at the airport. She spoke English flawlessly and was eager to answer all of my inquiries about Zhangjiajie. Amelie at the front desk was super sweet. The staff at the hotel was friendly and knowledgable about all the local attractions, especially the transportation—which was definitely helpful as I was solo and don't speak Mandarin. The hostel was very cozy and had the best music playing in the lobby—I even got to jam on the guitar they have. My room had all the necessities, though I had more fun hanging out in the lobby or on the adorable roof-top patio on the 7th floor. ||||I happened to catch a cold after visiting Tianmen Mountain so I wasn't able to see all the local attractions—but I had just as much fun hanging out in the lobby with the staff, eating roasted chestnuts, learning more about the local culture, and drinking the best tea I've tasted with the boss, Mark. ||||When I return again someday to Zhangjiajie, I'll definitely be staying at...
