湛江君豪酒店 — Hotel in Zhanjiang City

I always stay in the Sovereign Hotel when coming to Zhanjiang for work. The central location is convenient, but most of all the hotel has everything you need. The rooms are spacious, well designed and comfortable, luxurious even. The details function properly. What do I mean by that? The toilet flushes properly, the shower works and doesn't spray all over the place, the automatic curtains work, etc. It was well constructed and well maintained, which is not the case in many hotels. The best part about the hotel is that you can spend a whole day here without needed to leave the premises. There's a massive marble lobby with seating arrangements which are good for morning and afternoon tea meetings. The Chinese restaurant has good private rooms for lunch and dinner meetings and the bar on the 6th floor is a great place to unwind or even carry the meeting on after hours - especially if you ask for the dry friend chili snack, it's one of my favorites. Service here is friendly and they make an effort to please. I would recommend staying here if you come...

Stayed in hotel for 3 days, check-in was smooth as had local help for conversation with front desk, would have been difficult for self as no one speaks English at front desk.||Rooms were luxurious...I think rooms were the best part of the hotel, mine was on a higher floor with amazing view and very spacious. Washroom had a bathtub and perfect.||Now to the food part, to be honest there is very little for outsiders either in Buffett or alacarte. Only coffee available was espresso in the restaurant. There were very few option in the menu and out of them few were unavailable. English is a issue, they use there phone to translate and try to communicate.||Very happy with the rooms but food...

Having stayed here for 2 1/2 months and getting familiar with Zhanjiang, I feel I can give a fair, short, blunt review from a westerners viewpoint. At 58 years old, I have been in 34 countries, worked in 13, and driven in 14. I love diversity and to travel. Asians and non-Muslims would be happier staying in the Sovereign. Everyone else would be happier staying in the Sheraton. It's that simple. Reason being that better English speak, food, and cultural reasons will be found for westerners and Muslims at the Sheraton. Both are good 5 star choices...
