The Golden Gulf Hotel in Yantai, Shandong Province China has given me an excellent week long stay in Yantai in Shandong's northeastern coast.||The location is supreme - it is right at the end of the coastal promenade - step outside the main entrance and the sea with its views across to numerous islands is right there - and the air is generally fresh and clean.||I booked a sea view room - which was on the top (6th) floor providing a panorama every morning of the sweeping bay along to some beautiful headlands.||Although an older hotel it has been well maintained, very clean and comfortable rooms. Indeed cleanliness and comfort are both first class. Every morning after having breakfast I would return to find the room cleaned - I can not find any fault with the facilities - the housekeeping team really made sure my stay was comfortable and everything clean. ||My stay included breakfast - very large selection of mainly Chinese with some western features. Great coffee. Some of the restaurant staff spoke English and always tried to help - without having to be asked.||Throughout my stay and at every opportunity I found all the staff I met to be both courteous and always trying to help - such as arranging a taxi when I wanted to visit a far away location. On the first evening I had a personal, handwritten letter of welcome along with a local apple delicacy.||Along the corridors are photos of historic Yantai and of visiting international dignitaries who have stayed at the Golden Gulf.||Not only does it adjoin the coastal promenade but it backs onto the incredibly beautiful Yantai Shan - a hill dominated by a working lighthouse and grand villas that once were the consulates of many nations from the days when Yantai was a Treaty Port. Very close also is a maze of narrow, fascinating alleys that were associated with the original town of Chefoo. One partly pedestrianised alley, Chaoyang Street has some good restaurants and cafe bars - all within minutes of the hotel. ||Changyu Wine Culture Museum is about 10 minutes walk from the hotel.||The railway station is about 40 minutes walk. Also near the hotel is the fishing port with a bustling morning market along the waterfront. ||The hotel has fitness suite, free cycle hire and much more.||I would certainly stay there when I next visit Yantai for this city is a really fascinating, attractive and friendly city that I hope to come back to soon.||Again, a special thanks to the team at the Golden Gulf Hotel in Yantsi for making my week long stay so comfortable and...
Read moreStayed at the GGH monthlong. The siting of the hotel is marvelous. Very close the beach and very suitable for early morning and evening walks. Also very close to an array of bars and eating places. Just behind is the famous Yantai hill with a lighthouse. Very lovely site to have a panoramic view of Yantai.||The hotel rooms are very clean. The bathroom both have a shower and a bathtub which are kept clean. I loved the room heater in form of intense lighting and also the magnified mirror for my clear view of shaving experience. The room also have the clothes pressing facilities which I found very convenient.|The staff are very helpful, respectful and supportive to make ones stay comfortable. I will not forget the special notes and specially prepared Yantai apple from the personalized host. Actually the staff surprised me with a cake gift on my Golden Jubilee birthday at the Golden Gulf. No sooner had I entered the hotel lobby at 23hrs than I was reminded that it was my birthday. To which I was surprised as to how they knew my birthday. Anyhow we enjoyed the Celebration into the early morning.||Last but not the least, I always enjoyed the breakfast. Had a variety of Chinese and western cuisines.||I simply enjoyed my monthlong stay at Golden Gulf Hotel. Wouldn't hesitate to come again in the...
Read moreWe stayed in the 6th floor room with a balcony. It was a great and comfortable room. Also, the cleaning staff did an excellent job each day of making the room nice.||||The area of the hotel is very nice as well. Walking distance to the Wine and Culture Museum and Yantai Mountain. There are some nice areas of old buildings, and some nice restaurants around.||||The breakfast buffet was good, as is the buffet lunch and dinner restaurant on the 2nd floor.||||Finally, the staff was exceptional. It was one of my best experiences at a hotel. You can see signs that highlight the prime ministers who have stayed at this hotel, so I suppose it leads to the great standards that this hotel has. Even the staff that weren't that great in English worked really hard to help us, and overall we felt very welcome to the city and the hotel.||||I definitely recommend this hotel to anybody...
