Hotel Pacific — Hotel in Zhifu District

I booked the hotel through Sinohotels and everything went smoothly with the booking. However, once I checked in, I actually went back down to the desk to make certain that I had received the type A room that I had spent the extra money to book. ||||I lived in Yantai in 2000 and my parents stayed in the Pacific at that time. The hotel at that time was 4 stars with nice rooms. I myself stayed in the Pacific in 2002 and had a great room with a really good breakfast included in the western restaurant. Therefore, when I went back to Yantai, I chose the Pacific based on these past experiences.||||I found my room to be nice, but worn. The floor was filthy and the sheets of one of the twin beds in the room were marked and disgusting. Fortunately, I only needed one of the beds. The bathroom is really grotty. The counter was stained and kind of nasty. The shower was not so nice either.||||The breakfast is ok, but not what I expected. It is really extensive, but as a westerner I am not so excited about a large Chinese breakfast. There are coffee and baked goods, however.||||The worst part is the massage offers. I have lived in China and sort of expect a call at some point asking if I want a massage (prostitutes calling). However, never I have experienced what happens at the Pacific. First of all, even if you say bu yao (don’t want), they call several times as late as 23:30. But, what really floored me was when they came to my room night after night. They ring the bell regardless of whether or not you have the do not disturb sign hung on the door. They also pound on the door for a minute. The first night, I opened the door and fortunately, kept my foot in front of the door. They actually tried to push in. I told them that I did not want and they kept asking why not. I had to finally push the door shut. Another night I ran into the girls in the hall and saw that they were accompanied by two other girls, one with a Pacific hotel name tag. Therefore, one can conclude that the hotel fully sanctions the prostitutes and their behavior.||||I wish that I knew a better hotel in Yantai because I wont stay in the Pacific next time. This is really disappointing because it is well located and used to be nice. ||||In summary, not a four star hotel by western standards. More like a two star and even fewer if you count the disturbances in the night. Probably...

We Just returned back from Yantai on the 19th Oct, we booked two rooms in this property looking at the good reviews given on different web site, once we entered the hotel premises there was a different story to tell.||Not one front office staff can speak or understand English, the rooms are clean spacious, but the AC did not work in both the rooms, the room was not getting cool, we tried to inform the staff there but they did not seem to understand what we spoke. Luckily the weather was good so i slept with the windows open.||We were informed there is a restaurent serving western food, when we got there we were told that it closed down some time ago, so we had to have breakfast in a chinese restaurent, it was verry difficult to enter the place as it had a strong smell and we just cudnt eat. As no other food was available i decided to eat some fruits, but due to the odour it got difficult to get in there. ||We asked a lady there to serve us salad, but she wudnt understand that too. There should have been at least one person who could understand English, the bath tubs are old and the bath mats are ... jus too bad, the towels were rough and worn out. ||The experience was not too bad but definately not what one would least excpect from a...

The pictures of this hotel makes it appear to be ok and maybe worthy of the 4 star rating - the reality is untrue.||Firstly there is a strong mould smell everywhere - I was afraid to breath in too much.||All the walls, carpets and decor is decaying , it reminded me of a movie set of a haunted hotel or something. ||Staff don’t speak English and not very helpful.||Cigarette ashtrays everywhere in the hotel ||||There is NO swimming pool ||No fitness centre ||No sauna ||||Despite having maps and signs indicting this- you wil be left looking around like an idiot until you ask and they unapologetically tell you there is no pool.||||The TVs in the room don’t work and they are not flat screen - rather antique ones from the 1970’s.||I could have taken more pictures to highlight this but didn’t want to set a depressive tone in my...
