The Hiyet hotel is ideally located on the river of Zhongshan. Actually, this was the only highlight on my short business trip to Zhongshan. The evening the river banks are colorful decorated with lights. ||The Hotel Hiyet has almost 200 rooms, which are already heavily used. Certainly, this hotel does not qualify for 5 stars. The hotel is strictly vegetarian, but in contrary smoking is everywhere allowed. English speaking staff was not present. ||Two lifts, which are already insufficient for 200 rooms were both under repair. The temporary access through fire escape and service lift was very dirty and giving a bad impression. In a similar state was the stained and dirty carpet in the room. Fortunately, the bed was clean. The bath room at a closer look is in need of renovation. Wi-Fi access is unreliable and slow. ||The restaurant serves only vegetarian food. Sufficient supply was neither on the breakfast nor on the dinner buffet ensured. The dinner buffet goes for RMB 68. The main course consists of dumplings and herbs that are cooked in a hotpot. I had to argue 10 minutes to get a beer, although beer is actually purely vegan. The breakfast buffet was at 08:00 AM dead empty and the replenishment was lacking (see pictures). Even eggs are unavailable.||The exterior of the hotel makes a dreadful impression with the torn-down blinds (see pictures).||At the checkout, I wanted to bring forward a complaint, but there was no one from the management ready to listen. Guangzhou Bayun International Airport is located in 2-3 hours driving distance. No recommendation...

Read moreIt was my first time in Zhongshan and the hospitality of this hotels staff made me feel at home. Although with limited English overall, they did make things happen as some staff know English. I had to check-in and out many times with the nature of my travel to other places and they still did not have issues even I advised them last minute. I even made reservation on WeChat and it was confirmed within minutes. Hassle free. I ended up have the same room I requested. The view of the river and lights at nite from my hotel room was just awesome. They had fresh fruits ready in my room everyday. They even gave me free moon cakes when I was hungry and checked in later when all the restaurants were closed. The vegeterian resturant has a wide variety of food that you will not care to eat meat. A great experience and when I am back in Zhongshan again, there is no doubt that I will be staying...
