Santa Fe has been a favorite getaway for us since 2008. Normally, we stay at one of the "usual suspects" in the center of the pueblo. On the spur of the moment, we made a reservation at Hosteria Los Fundadores based upon the recommendation of some friends who stayed there a couple of months ago. We were glad that we deviated from our usual plan, and stayed at this accommodation. It is about half a mile from Plaza Mayor on the outskirts of town. The distance from the historic center of the pueblo may be the only real drawback for some. For others, it may be a plus.||||My wife and I, and another couple, stayed in two separate cabanas, # 2 & #4. These cabanas have a standard-sized bed in the main bedroom and a smaller twin-sized bed in an adjoining room. The beds are somewhat hard, but in spite of that, I woke up in the morning feeling refreshed. The larger capacity cabanas (6+ persons) have a separate bedroom and bath for the adult couple in the party. The bathrooms have COLD water showers only. Along with the main living area, there is a kitchen and laundry room in the back of the cabana. The rooms are spotless. The kitchen in #4 only had a sink while #2 included a full-sized upright refrigerator. Each unit has an old style color TV installed in the main bedroom. Each cabana has at least one high-efficiency AC unit that keeps the living space very cool in the heat of the valley. "Free" air conditioning is available during night time hours only. If you desire A/C around the clock, it will cost you an additional 10,000 pesos. In the front of the cabana is an ample porch with a table, chairs, and a love-seat, so meals and drinks can be enjoyed outside. ||||The cabanas form a horseshoe around the "fun zone." The fun zone consists of a pool formed by two converging ellipses, and a third smaller ellipse (the kiddie pool). Situated a few feet from the kiddie pool is a 6 person jacuzzi filled with cool, refreshing water. A steady "chorro" of water empties into the large adult pool. Beach lounges and tables are plentiful. In front of the pool is the bar/restaurant that serves 3 meals, as well as snacks throughout the day. In the basement of the restaurant are changing rooms for day guests. By the way, the cuisine at Los Fundadores is superb... and serves the best hotel meals I have ever eaten in Colombia. The kitchen staff does an excellent job!||||Off to the north side of the pool is the solarium and spa. You can climb the two floors of steps to the roof of the spa and enjoy the hot Santa Fe sun with or without bathing suit. Be sure to bring plenty of sun block. At pool level, there are two steam bathes and a massage room. The house masseuse, Sandra, is superb at her art. She starts out with a sugar-coated skin exfoliation, 10 minutes in the steam bath, and then a refreshing shower. Sandra gives your body a solid 1 hour work-over from head to toe. When she finishes, you are ready for the relaxing jacuzzi. All four of us received massages starting at noon and ending close to 6 in the evening. ||||Solid, FREE WIFI Internet throughout the complex. Free coffee and purified water available in the reception area. Ask Fernando to serve you one of the fresh mangos from the hotel's own mango tree near the pool.||||I would like to acknowledge the staff at Los Fundadores for their exceptional service and attention to detail. They go well beyond just being a "great staff"... they are exceptional. Waiting on their guests hand and foot is the norm for Ovidio, Fernando and the rest of the crew. We overstayed our check out time by nearly 3 1/2 hours while taking turns for our massages. The staff was very gracious, and worked with us. There were no extra charges or implications that we should "hurry up." ||||The cost, regardless of the unit, is 110,000 pesos per person per night. This price includes 3 meals and the "extra" air conditioning. Not a bad deal in my book, and probably the best deal in Santa Fe! This is the perfect accommodation for friends, a family outing and couples.We...
Read moreFirst and foremost, don't expect a 5 star hotel. This small property is an average hotel, the rooms are clean, it has a nice pool, the service and food are the highlight of this property. Everyone, from the cook to the property manager are always available asking you if you need something, are you ok, is there anything that we can do to make your stay a more pleasant one....all in all, the staff is always available when you need assistance. ||||||My stay was for 3 days and 2 nights and I ended up extending an additional night because I felt at home. This hotel is not perfect, it has it's drawbacks which I will later share with you. However, the service that was provided made this drawbacks useless. ||||Customer Service A+, Food/Beverage A+, Pool A, Cleanliness A, Facility C.||||Drawbacks during my stay, no hot water, pool closes at 9pm, if you leave the hotel you have to be back before 1am, otherwise, you will not have access to the property. Those were the only drawbacks I can think of. They are nothing fuss about.||||There are other bigger hotels around, but the service and food that I experienced was an A+.||||As previously mentioned, don't expect a 5 star hotel, but do expect A+ service and food.||||Enjoy! Read moreThis was my first trip to Santa Fe De Antioquia. We went the first part of Semana Santa before all the crowds arrived. We arrived late and the reception area was closed. We were showed our room and told that we could check in in the morning with the staff arrived. We upgraded to room with a jaccuzi and mini bar. The room was very nice size with a small terrace. The price included breakfast, lunch and dinner. There were 2 selections to chose from and the quality was fair for the price. The hotel has a very nice sized pool and great service. Our waiter Alexander did a fine job making sure that we had ice and drinks. Like some other reviewers have noted, the location from the central park is either a plus or minus. It is only a short walk down hill, with the option for motor taxi to take you back. Overall the attention of the hotel was very good. Thank you to Don Ovidio and his staff. Our stay...
