Review for the restaurant and facilities only. Would be 3.5 stars. Lots of greatness here marred by weird customer service issues.
The good: amazing design to the facilities including the pool, spa and restaurant. It feels like a lush oasis. Massages were very solid and the best you will get in the area. The food is delicious, especially the empanadas which are the best we have tasted in Colombia (and half of our group is Colombian).
The not so good: First time we went was for lunch. Long story short: drinks were served 45 minutes in, “meal” drinks an hour in, and our food 2 hours in. Except for one meal which was the wrong dish. Instead of fixing it our waiter decided to push back and say it was our fault even though we heard him repeat back the order correctly before. After 2.5 hours we left without it being fixed.
Second time was for lunch and massages. Food only took 75 minutes which felt like a victory. Overall great experience except everyone in the downstairs area was told to move because there was a large group who reserved it. When we left two hours later it was still unoccupied. It felt like they were just trying to move us along.
TLDR: I would recommend for food and drinks given the limited selection in Santa Veronica but would recommend eating before hand if you...
Read moreThis place met our wildest expectations for an off-track luxury getaway. While most guests stay a couple of nights we were there a week, so got to really fully experience the rhythm of the place. The staff are friendly and accommodating, and the public space is truly spectacular. We stayed in an ocean view “treehouse” with a Swiss Family Robinson style bathroom which was one of the most beautiful bathrooms I’ve ever seen. Every detail of the hotel has been carefully thought out and guests are treated royally. The food is excellent, although as with the rest of our meals in Colombia, some items were often unavailable. The private beach area is big and clean although the public beach is littered with plastic from the ocean, sadly. A 15 minute walk to nearby Santa Veronica will give you a taste of local life with a row of a dozen ocean view beach restaurants. Be sure to try eating on the upper deck of the...
Read moreThis property is way off the beaten path but well worth the effort to get there. If you contact the property, they have access to a driver that can get you to and from the resort for a modest fee. They picked me up at the Barranquilla airport in the middle of the night.||If you are looking for air-conditioned rooms, this is not it. This is a true eco resort. The fans and sea breeze did a good job of keeping things comfortable. I had a room with a private splash pool that offered midnight cool off swims.||The menu is pretty good, food tasty, and prices reasonable. I got a massage every day I was there... that is definitely the way to go.||They have a private beach area that has covered areas to spread out. Nice and comfy for sure.||The staff was beyond nice and friendly. ||There are really so many positive things to say about this place. I will definitely...
