Hotel San Marcos — Hotel in Barranquilla

We initially booked 3 nights in this hotel of Barranquilla for carnival because it seemed to be close to the city center. However, which called “centro” used to be the center but not more currently. Many locals and taxi drivers told us not to stay there.

About the hotel, the rooms and amenities were pretty basic but still clean. There was no hot water (not too disturbing by the weather) and no shower head (only a water pipe). We usually don’t mind about basic accommodation as long as it’s clean, but here the surrounding/district is the main issue.

The second night, an incident occurred and the staff of the hotel refused to explain us what actually happened. The glass front door of the hotel was not more there, the staff was cleaning with a huge quantity of water what seemed to be blood on the floor. Later military officers arrived and stayed part of the night in front of the hotel. On the next, we asked again about the incident without answer. Since we were concerned about safety, we decided to leave the hotel before the end...

Do not book this hostel. Every taxi driver told us that the area was not safe. When we came back one night the glass door of the hotel was completely broken, red liquid was everywhere in the lobby and heaps of police outside. Just choose another hostel. The rooms are not nice either, we only stayed there because everything was fully booked due to carnival. The shower btw...

En verdad nada todo terrible 😨,la habitación que nos tocó horrible una cama no tenía las tablas completas nos tocó acomodarnos 3 personas en una cama, habían hormigas en la habitación,la verdad lo que muestran en las fotos no es lo que uno espera el hotel está súper deteriorado,en la parte de la fachada está terrible realmente está en uno zona muy peligrosa casi como el Bronx como en Bogotá, 3 personas nos indicaron que estábamos en un lugar muy peligroso le toca uno llegar temprano al hotel y encerrarse,queda todo lejos de las partes turísticas.Esto no sé debería llamar hotel debería ser un hostal o motel,no hay mucho donde conseguir para comer algo de verdad este hotel no es para las familias y mas con niños,esto esta ubicado en el centro centro de Barranquilla NO LO RECOMIENDO..... Busquen mejor hoteles hacia el norte de...
