We had a wonderful 2-night stay at the Hostal Renacer on our trip to the north coast starting in Bogotà. We decided to stay here due to the excellent reviews on trip advisor and I must say it was the absolute right decision. I understand that some people say that it is a little far out from the bus-terminal by foot, but as a healthy backpacker you should‘nt have a problem with the 20-minute walk from the town to the Hostal up the hill, especially because the walk is really quite pleasant with amazing views :)
The Hostal is like a little oasis of calmness and joy, really letting you feel relaxed and settled. They have different types of rooms, a central garden with a springwell surrounded by greens and a few hammocks to rest in.
The staff is welcoming, very nice and supportive. Eventough we do not speak Spanish fluently we we‘re able to get along quite well!
A basic breakfast is included, aswell as a welcomeing beverage at arrival. You can choose from a additional breakfast menue which will than be charged at the end of your stay. The prices are absolutely reasonable.
There is also an community kitchen area to do your own cooking, places to do laundry, clean bathrooms, a great fireplace, rooms to gather and spent time with the other guests, free Wi-Fi and a little Bar by the kitchen. You can also get you evening meal there, they have a menue with different local meals. Eventough we mostly ate downtown in the restaurants in Villa de Leyva, which were all amazing.
Thank you for having us, we had a...
Read moreThe hostal is nicely located, outside of the city, which gives for very quiet nights and a peaceful place in general. ||There are lots of outside places to feel connected with nature at this hostel, such as the kitchen and the main patio, with hammocks and seating to relax.||The dormitory was just spacious enough, but lacked storage to accommodate your things. There is no locker in the dormitory, but there are small lockers at the reception if you need to store valuables.||There is also a living room with a TV for guests to use.||A restaurant serves breakfast and dinner, portions are large and the food is good :) |If you feel like cooking, there is also a well equipped outside kitchen.||Bathrooms were just fine.||Everything in general was clean.||Lastly, I can't finish this review without mentioning Olga and her sister, which make everything to make your stay a pleasant and...
Read moreIt’s a nice spot in nature with a garden, about 15 minutes away from a short hike. However, all the cons outweigh this pro. It is about a 30-minute hike up hill every time you return from the city center. The kitchen and fridge look like they have never been cleaned in their lifetime and the rooms look nothing like the pictures. On top of everything they try to charge you for just about everything that is normally included in a hostel, presented in the most confusing bill ever (this is a typical trick in Colombia, I have noticed: make the bill so confusing that guests give up trying to understand them and just pay). All in all it was a quite misleading experience and I would not...
