The guidebooks say this has the best restaurant in town and they are not wrong! If you stay here you can get meals when it would be closed to non-residents (eg Sunday), and in fact there aren't too many other places to get a decent meal in town. There are a couple of English-speaking staff, who are very helpful. If you are at all sensitive to noise, ask for rooms 4-6 which are below the dining room. The other rooms suffer from road noise, car alarms, dogs barking and staff who sing (yes, really). La Casona is the base for a separate tourist business, and the dining room can get a bit riotous at times with groups. We had a word with management about some of these issues, and with luck some of them will be sorted soon. EG if the music is too loud, or the TV bothering you while you eat, just ask for it to be turned off. They are...

We chose the hotel because we arrived late and it's located in the center. However, there are several things we didn't like:|They didn't give us useful information about the paramo trek - the reason why most people come to Mongui. We had to help ourselves and found great guides just around the corner at Ocetour, calle 4 no 4-11.|Breakfast is served only after 8 am although you should start the paramo trek at 6 am. However, you can help yourself and get good and cheap breakfast at the bakery at the plaza.|When we came back from the paramo trek we found our room empty. They had moved all our stuff to another room without letting us know. |The food at the restaurant is not the best and overpriced. There are several good and cheaper...

The restaurant is near the central place. It is rather big. You can sit inside or outside. From the balcony you have a nice view on the mountains. We ordered meat, but had to wait a long time. When the food arrived, one of the pieces of meat was totally dry... (asked for medium). We complained and they took it away. After that we had to wait again... half hour. This time the meat was good. BIG PIECE of meat, with little French fries and..... a tiny little plate of salad... so.... if you go there... be more than clear about how you want the meat...and be prepared you don't get much else......

The restaurant is nice and has a great view of the mountains, the food is tasty but portions of the meats are small for the price. The "Indios" which is a starter is interesting but it's way too expensive for what it is. Three small indios for about 20.000 cop is not worth it. Ordered extra portions of potatoes because each dish has only one( crazy taking into account the price and that we are in a potato land) and the potatoes were not cooked... There was not water in the toilets ! People couldn't flush it... Terrible ... I wouldn't come here again.

Overall a great spot in Monguí. Good service, great plate design, and also great flavors, the trout on a tangerine sauce is well-recommended! If you’re willing to have great food in the middle of a town in Boyacá, this is a highlight for your trip!

Totalmente recomendado!
