Casa Hostel Shalom Adonai — Hotel in Cartagena

After taking an Uber from the airport, we stopped in the middle of not very pleasant neighborhood (would call it slum). You have to climb narrow stairs and you will see the place. The owner and the people who are working there aren't speaking any English, so be prepared with Translator. When we entered in the room, it was super hot.. the fan who's working there just circulate the hot air in the room. The air conditioning is not working and you can't open the window properly. The beds are old and you don't have a place where to hang your clothes. The bathroom is small and the shower basically.. doesn't exist. You don't have a warm water, the size of the bathroom is barely and you don't have any place to put your towel (which you will get after requesting them). When we complained about the water, the owner from nice and responsive, become arrogant, he said it's a normal for the area and if we don't like the place to leave (at 11pm). During the night, it's impossible to sleep, because of the heat and the cars honking from 5am and people screaming to sell different stuff. You can't walk in the area, its not safe at all and better order Indrive (Uber drivers aren't taking many rides to this neighborhood, you know why). So, be prepared and think twice...

nice, calm little hostel with very friendly staff. they make sure you have everything you need. it's clean. basic kitchen and fridge to use. fast wifi. two common areas to chill. tap water is fine to drink. towels not included.

the neighbourhood has a lot of food options to offer. local bars, bakery, street vendors in the evening around. felt very safe, manny friendly local people around, not typical touristy for sure.

Amazing place, very small but adorable and clean! Room good for the price and the host is lovely! Don’t understand why there is people complaining in reviews about not having hot water and at the same time complaining the room is too hot. There are fans and you can purchase air con too. If you’re scared to walk anywhere that’s on you for choosing that location, you can get a very cheap Uber anywhere you want. And also people shouldn’t complain about the host not speaking...
