Hotel Boquilla 9-71 — Hotel in Cartagena

This hotel was simply not what was advertised. The pictures we saw on the Internet, together with the text, described a boutique hotel, in an upmarket location only 300 Metres from the beach. In reality it was a second rate guesthouse in a poor area, with no direct access to any beach. On arrival, even our taxi driver asked us if we were sure about staying there (after some trouble finding it). It appeared to be unfinished, with building materials in evidence, a hose running thought the reception area and bricks piled in the ornamental pool. The stairs were dangerous for children, with no hand rail or banisters, and given the marketing as a boutique hotel, appalling finishing everywhere.||In our room, there was a bare electrical wire in the shower, screws poking out of the wall, no curtain rail in the sitting area (but holes where the screws once were) damp and paint flaking off the ceiling, electric cables hanging from the wall, the kitchenette was dirty, as was the floor almost everywhere.....I won't bore you with any more except to say simply don't go there. This small hotel is located in a fisherman's neighborhood. There are always people on the street socializing and doing something. Great food can be found and made fresh daily by the locals right on there front porches. Just for 8-10,000, you can get fresh fish soup, and a fried fish platter. The owners are amazing people that are ready to help all the time. The hotel is cleaned daily and is gated for extra security. |It is advised not to walk through the small alleys at night and to be aware of your surroundings. Though, I found that the people in the neighborhood where very friendly, even bought me a beer. |Loved...

The worst place we have stayed .||Area is like the slums have to catch taxi everywhere - the pool is green.||||Which is described as a kitchen, all that is provided is a broken microwave and hob but the pots are discusting and old.no utensils had to buy knives , spoons to cook with.||||They chad us £20 to process our credit card with out telling us!||||And there has been building up stairs and nothing was said 7 am the loud banging drilling begins for the day !||||Oh breakfast 2 small bread with a tiny orange and what looks like warm milk for coffee.||Were disgusted as paid...
