We stayed in Marazao Beach hotel and Spa and had a horrible experience that resulted in us having to leave early. As soon as we arrived we could tell that the pictures that they have online are altered and photoshopped. As we got off the boat we were welcomed with trash in the hotel's private beach, and the color of the water was green, unlike the picture that shows a perfect turquoise color. Instead of the lively view they have here, you see a refinery and trash from the own hotel that is “under” construction.
The first night, we were woken up by loud music and partying. A group of men were drinking in their underwear in the pool at 5:30am, an unpleasant sight to be with my 2 year old daughter. Later, two men made inappropriate sexual comments that made me feel very uncomfortable and unsafe being alone near them. Something else must have happened because an hour later the police were called and had to speak with this group of men. Our second night in the hotel, a guy knocked at our door asking for money because he was in a complicated situation. We had seen that guy talking with stuff and eating at the restaurant. The fact that the hotel staff allowed strangers to be at the hotel past midnight and knocking on our room was shocking and unsafe.
The main reason we had to leave the hotel was because on our third night, there was a weather storm that flooded our rooms and left the hotel was without electricity. They assured us that the electricity would come back, but after waiting for over 6 hours we left because it didn't look like it would get resolved soon. I have a health condition that is triggered with heat and humidity. One of the main reasons we decided to stay there was because they offered AC, and my health would have suffered greatly if I stayed there with no AC. We told the hotel we were leaving early because they had no power and they still charged us for the room, even though it was on them. Other hotels on the island had electricity.
The food that the hotel offered was limited and it took over an hour from the time they took our orders until we received the food. Nothing like the pictures they have. We tried going to the beach, but it was so dirty that we avoided getting in because of the trash left by the hotel and the refinery being so close to the hotel.
I am saddened that we booked this hotel to spend our vacations because it was a rip off. We choose this based on the reviews and pictures and it was a mistake, I don't recommend anybody staying here. It was a waste of our days on vacation and money.
The hotel should update their pictures and not use photoshop because what they are offering is nothing to what they show.
Also, I don’t know why they describe this as a “spa”. There is nothing that resembles or comes close to a spa in this hotel.
Please don’t stay here. Go somewhere...
Read moreWhere do I start… We came to Colombia for my boyfriend’s birthday, we came across this place which was listed under Cartagena. When the staff member (Cindy) reached out to me it was brought to my attention that it was on an island. So we booked another place to stay for the night because we were arriving into CTG around 9pm. Cindy was understanding and moved the hotel back a day which was the only good part of this experience. The next day when we arrived to the beach where a boat was going to transport us to the island we had to pay 200,000 pesos. When we arrived to the island we checked in Cindy was there helping us we went over the fees again and hostel rules after she asked for another payment of 170usd I told her I paid on expedia however she was adamant on collecting more money, following her guidance we paid again assuming there was a mistake of the card or Expedia so we paid again. She then told us our check in time was at 3 we ended up waiting another hour until our room was ready. When we got to the room it was so hot, the ac hardly worked, there was no warm water, no tv, just a bed, a sheet and a couple of chairs. By 6pm all the food was put away there was no one on the island. My boyfriend and I walked down to another hotel where we got food and looked more into the payment, we figured out we were double charged and we finally had enough with that experience we found someone to take us to Cartagena went back to the room packed everything and told Cindy we were checking out due to the reasons listed. When everything was brought to her attention she admitted her mistake for the double charge however didn't refund the portion she charged. As far as the no hot water, ac problems, no tv, no food etc.. she said we should’ve seen that all on Expedia which nothing was listed on their website. The best part of that experience was the boat ride back to Cartagena. Stay away from this hotel it’s overall a scam. Also, the reviews are bizarre and fake half mentioned how attractive the staff are. Attached is the receipt of being...
