Mio Mio Beach — Hotel in Cartagena

Update - stilll have a bad stomach and have t received a refund or compensation. Don’t stay here. The man running the place is a very lovely guy and does everything to try and help you including collecting you , so welcoming positive and happy, he got the 3 stars for the service. The other 2 removed for the chef and cleaner. It’s in a good beachfront location however it’s twice the price as hotels in Cartagena and halve the standard , the beach isn’t as nice as pictures. We got served raw swordfish and I’ve had a bad stomach since and now need to fly so thanks to the chef! Was asked to still pay for it but managed to encourage halve! The room was dirty, there was a poo left in the toilet on arrival! The bed sheets were dirty fully of sand and stained so clearly weren’t changed. Fortunately were changed but still a dirty pillow. The woman who changed them gave death stares to my wife in the morning which wasnt nice. But again the man was lovely. He deserves to work in the best hotel! No fan as stated on booking.com loud neighbours. Woken up to a water barge pumping. So we left a day before and were still asked if we could pay for both nights but I await your refund for everything. Honestly don’t bother with this area just stay on Isla grande or save beach holidays for a country that hasn’t over run their beaches there are hundreds of shack hotels here and it’s too crowded like Thailand. It’s basically a posh hostel...

Pros: The location of Mio Mio Beach is beautiful with turquoise waters The restaurant has a very nice aesthetic which is why we chose it in the first place The prices appeared much more reasonable compared to other restaurants in the area

Cons: We waited at least 30 minutes for a mango juice, a beer and some cheesy chips. When we went to ask for an update, we were told it would 10 minutes (it was not!!!). We asked if we could at least have our drinks but staff said it's not possible and that they'd bring them with the food Communication was really poor throughout - we received zero updates The mango juice was unfortunately the worst fruit juice I've ever had When we complained about the service and pointed out that we did not even agree to the 10% tip which was added on by default, the staff simply shoved the rest of the change in my hand and marched off.

The location is gorgeous but the staff need to be trained in customer service and waiting times and communication...

Love the small beach club. Staff was very attentive. Remember ALL properties on the island must get water from a boat that fills their tanks. If the tank goes empty and the sea is too rough to bring water, you could be without until the boat can arrive.

Conserve water!!! Super fast showers etc. They try to help w bottled water in an outage. Contact the number above or message through the app you booked on (not thru Google) to make sure they have water. Owner tries to advise in time if they go dry.

To get there by boat or if taxi it's a very long walk so can take a water taxi for about 20 to 30k pesos....
