La Granja Ecohotel in Colombia offers a charming farm-style guest house experience, but there are several aspects that could use improvement.
The hotel’s overall installations are adequate, providing a rustic and authentic farm ambiance. The customer service is acceptable, though not particularly noteworthy.
Breakfast is included in the stay, which is convenient, but the quality could be better. The food overall is fair – it’s not terrible, but it doesn’t stand out either.
I booked the tree house with high expectations, and while it has some unique features, it also has several drawbacks. The tree house is isolated from the rest of the farm, complete with its own fence and jacuzzi, which adds a nice touch of privacy. The bed is comfortable, but the layout is a bit awkward, with the bathroom located on the first floor outside. This setup can be challenging, especially for late-night bathroom trips, as navigating the steel stairs in the dark is tricky.
The tree house was also quite noisy. As a light sleeper, I found it difficult to rest well due to the sounds from the roof. If you are a light sleeper, I wouldn’t recommend staying here without some sleep aids.
During my stay, it rained heavily on the first night, and unfortunately, half of the mattress was soaked due to a leak in the roof. The front desk did change the sheets promptly, but it was an inconvenience. Thankfully, it didn’t rain again during my stay, but I hope they address this issue for future guests.
Overall, I would rate La Granja Ecohotel as a 3-star experience. It has potential, especially with its unique tree house option, but improvements in food quality, noise management, and room maintenance are needed to make it a more comfortable and...
Read moreMy husband, daughter, some friends and I went for a day trip to The Granja Extrema. We travel often to Armenia and wanted to try something new. We so enjoyed riding bikes on the abandoned railroad track that Don Raul restored. Fun, safe, interesting and active! We didn't see any howler monkeys, but they apparently have been sighted at one of the stops we made at a clearing. We also bathed in a river which was perfect on a hot day after biking. When we got back a delicious hot lunch awaited us. Don Raul has champion Paso Fino horses that he shared with us. He explained the history and technique of these amazing animals. Lockers and showers are provided. You can play volleyball, soccer, swim or take a siesta in one of the hammocks. Raul, his wife Doris, Marcella his sister, Marcella the receptionist, Vanesa their niece and the whole staff were so warm and hospitable. You get a lot for the very reasonable price of admission. We'll for...
Read moreWhat an amazing finca to enjoy some adventure and spend the night. They have many activities such as bici rail tour which is biking though a rail road about 3 kilometers then you do mini short hike into a small waterfall. The tour guy is very energetic and teaches you a lot about the history of the area and the plants you see. Some times you can spot some monkeys around. Back at the farm they offer horse back rides and paso fino horse show. They have a few animals like goats, turkeys, hens, roosters, turtles and a few species of ducks. One thing I loved is they take care of the animals and the farm pets like the pig marina or the k9 dogs. Great place to spend a weekend or do work outings. Employees are very friendly and if you spend the night you can enjoy movies under the stars and nice bone fire...
