TLDR: Right next door, Casa 50, Mocawa airbnb home invasion. Entire security team replaced, no suspect caught. Beware of your safety. Our group from the USA stayed at the Mocawa early June 2024. We stayed at Casa 50, booking via Airbnb, Hosted by Cafe Casas. The biggest reasoning for booking this location was perceived security of the gated compound, and beauty of the properties. Our first night around 230am, intruders cut open the permitter fence behind our airbnb and forcibly entered the house. Photos of the fence are attached. The intruders entered our rooms while we slept and stole >10k of technology (computers, phones, iPads, etc…). Fleeing before being caught. Out of the 90 houses within the “secure” compound, ours was the only one targeted. The intruders knew which door had a weak lock, and that we had valuables in my backpack. Coincidentally, a Mocawa security guard was outside right next door during the entire robbery, but never heard anything. Casa 50 owner informed us there was a robbery a month prior in a different house. As well as other suspicious activity per alarm systems in the community. This was not mentioned to us upon checkin. We were not made aware that the permitter fence behind the property was already damaged, the locking mechanism for the maid door was defective, the motion cameras (which pointed to the exact permitter breach spot) were turned off at our check in, the motion lights (which also pointed at the exact permitted breach spot) turned off at 230am. The owner of Casa 50 had previously sent fix requests for the fence to administration 2 separate times. Administration ignored his requests to fix the permiter fence, and then this situation happened. During the robbery, one of the few compound security guards was right next door outside the house. He claimed he didn’t hear intruders cutting open a metal fence, climbing a hill, or breaking an entry right next door. But was right next door outside the whole time. The federal investigator informed us that administration fired the security team. The investigation also resulted in no one being blamed for the event. This means THOSE WHO BROKE IN AND ROBBED THIS CONDOMINIUM ARE STILL OUT THERE. This situation is a reflection of the negligence presented by all parties involved. Everything mentioned is documented inside of a police report. I hope this review is taken into consideration for anyone looking to stay at this property or the coffee region in general.

A fantastic place to stay when in Armenia. The rooms are super clean, spacious, the bed is very comfortable, and the staff in very helpful and friendly. At the lobby there is a lovely coffee shop where you can try specialty coffee from Colombia Wi-Fi was very decent, thus enabling me to work from my room. Breakfast (served on the 3rd floor) is gorgeous - you can eat Colombian typical dishes, to regular toast ans eggs you would find in any hotel. On the top floor there is a lovely bar, where yoy can seat,.enjoy small meals whilst enjoying a good beer. For 5 nights I paid approximately USD 500.00. For Brazilian standards, that would not be the cheapest place to stay, but the cost-benefit is fantastic. I would definetely recommend it (if you plan on staying in the city of Armenia! Most tourists look for the resorts outside Armenia).

The rooms are comfortable and it's very quiet and peaceful. The place is overall very beautiful. However, the breakfast is very weak given the price tag of the hotel and it's very disorganized (took us about 20min queuing for huevos pericos). Also the coffee is pretty basic. We stayed two nights there and both days the same experience which just makes it not worth the money.

Update: So we spoke to the "manager name starts with an R" (I do not know how many managers there are there I was refered to 3 different people)who said she would call us and never followed up. Now after reviewing the receipt there was a tip on the card that was never authorized. Definitely returning to the area because we had a lot we still wanted to see but not to this place. Search the negative reviews something we did not do since it said 4/7 stars but going over the reviews it looks like they have people posting positive one liner reviews. Buyer beware. I am giving 2 stars only because the place itself is very pretty in the day time. (At night it was too dark to see anything in the resort)The service is horrible. I am currently staying here and regret choosing this place. My experience is the worst. We were looking for a place to host our annual retreat but no way. The place is disorganized, the response to simple questions are met with a suggestion on what I can do never what they can do. I booked a villa and it is not really in the resort it is as if we are outside visitors to the resort rather than guest. The staff pretty much ignores my concerns and questions. When we arrived there was a refreshment bar we were not invited to enjoy any of it and it was not even stocked I was so thirsty and just went to help myself all of the containers were empty. The phones do not work and they don’t seem to think there is an issue with my needed to use my personal phone to call the customer service line. When we arrived there was not even a welcome note for us and the place was dusty. Asking for information in what there is to do in the surrounding area was like pulling teeth… btw in case you are wondering I speak Spanish so there was no language barrier they just truly do not care. It is just so sad because I was hoping for it to be a fun place to frequent during our first quarter retreat. The manager ignored my messages completely. The lack of attention is...

The hotel is beautiful. The pictures of what it looks like are true but the service is just horrific. There was no real reception for us, not even water offered. We reserved a villa that had no type of welcome note of anything. It was just a basic house. We had no way to communicate with the front desk the first night not even the security guard was able to and we had to walk up the hill to get to them when we got there no apology just well the phone lines aren't working. BTW the "Villa: is just a house in a community behind the Resort it isn't actually a part of the resort. There was no welcome note, no list of services or activities. The food servers were rude and bothered for anything that was asked. We waited 40 minutes for our food the kids were asleep by the time the food got there and were still expected to paay even though our meals were already paid for ahead of time. One of the guest food was forgotten not once but twice. Truly I could go on and on it was bad. I will say that the area is a good place to visit out side of the resort everyone was...
