My husband and I spent a relaxing 2 nights at Hotel Sindamanoy. The hotel is located on a beautiful spot on a peninsula, looking over Laguna de la Cocha on two sides. Our room had a balcony with a lake view; it looks like all or nearly all the rooms do. There is also a lovely sitting area overlooking the lake, where we spent time reading very comfortably. The hotel is very clean, and the service is excellent. It is clear they want you to enjoy your time, and helped us make arrangements for a beautiful hike to a waterfall with a local guide. You can also get a boat to take you around the lake and out to the Isla de la Corota from the hotel's own docks. In the evening, they put hot water bottles in your bed so it's nice and cozy when you get into it. Since it's cold at the lake, that was a lovely touch. ||||The reason this review is a 4 and not a 5 is that there are just a few things they could do to really be outstanding. Because you're at the lake and not near many restaurants, you end up eating at the hotel a lot. They did some things well: We thought the hervidos and hot wine were the best we had anywhere at the lake or in Pasto proper. I loved the lentils - a delight for this vegetarian to find here! - and the trout was perfectly cooked. However, the rest of the food was just OK. Breakfast is included, and they will cook your eggs to order, which is pretty standard in Colombia. It was the same offerings both days, and my husband made the error of ordering a casserole the second day, which was just poorly cooked eggs (hard yolks and runny whites - how does that even happen?). Overall, since guests are going to eat at the hotel, and the hotel is trying to be upscale, it would be nice if it were better food than what is on offer pretty much at any nearby place along the road. Also, we had a jacuzzi room, and though the jacuzzi was large with plenty of hot water, it was unfortunate it was located in the bathroom instead of out where there would be a lake view. The view from our windows was very private, and so it would have provided a private jacuzzi space with a gorgeous view of the lake. As it was, it is unfortunate to sit in a jacuzzi with no view when a nice one is so close by. Also, the jacuzzi's controls didn't work, so you had to plug and unplug it yourself on a plug next to the motor near the floor, which left me worried we were going to electrocute ourselves. The handheld shower head to fill the tub also would not stay put in its holder, so it hangs into the bath the whole time you're in the jacuzzi. Really, we had a very good stay, and I would recommend this place for a stay at the lake, but it would be nice if they upped their game a...
Read moreYes the spot is beautiful and yes the staff is nice, but the rooms are quit run down. |We celebrated an anniversary of a family member in this hotel. We were 14 people, we spend almost 2 mio pesos for one night, a dinner and a lunch. 8 of the 14 family members got intoxicated by the trout we ate there. It was really heavy for certain people, for the 83 year old grand father for example. My self I couldn't eat for one week and I m still struggling with a gastritis right now, two weeks later. Those things happen, but the worse is that my fiance send an email to avert the hotel but we never got an answer or an excuse back. That's unacceptable! Please...
