Gabriel, our hostel host, was a really lovely fella, he made us the most beautiful breakfast, a work of art!! We booked 2 nights but stayed 3, we loved the Hostel, the land it was set in, the town of Salento was small and welcoming. We met so many great fellow travellers there, had good days out horse riding with them and nights out playing a traditional game of La Tejo. That was fun!! Gabriel had the sweetest of dogs, Jambo & Rasta, one a puppy full of play & one chilled and keeping an eye on the territory. We had a lovely horse too wandering round, beautiful. Great value for money, chilled out atmosphere, plenty of space to mix or have solo time if you need it. The views were stunning. Really close to hike the Cocora Valley or any of the surrounding rainforest by foot or horse. Plenty café farms too worth a visit. I'd love to go back during a different season to experience it, we had a lot of rain but it made no difference to...
Read moreI do not advise this place for female solo travelers. I stayed 2 nights and had a very uncomfortable encounter with the owner.
The owner was very nice to all the guests, so I didn’t think much of his invitation to show me around. Turns out he had planned a picnic motorcycle getaway date, which I only realized when I had already said yes and felt like I could not get out of it anymore. He was about 20 years older than me, so I naively thought that he could not have romantic interest in me. But he did. On the trip he got touchy with me and I felt trapped in the situation and dependent on him because I had to get back with him. I eventually got home safely but felt extremely uncomfortable. That’s why I recommend that female solo travelers...
Read moreHonestly, I can't understand why the hostel is so well rated. The staff was really nice and the breakfast was very tasty. The location is also quite cool, because the hostel is located a bit outside and you therefore have a lot of peace. However, there are also very many negative aspects (we were in a single room): Our mattress was probably older than my grandpa. It was incredibly worn out Our bathroom had some holes or openings in the roof/wall, which is why we constantly had all the bugs and mosquitoes in the room. The shower was cold on some days Breakfast cost 15,000 pesos instead of the stated 7000 pesos, which is still cheap, but still double the stated price in HW A tour to the national park is also not (more) offered and one is referred to the local providers
I think for 1-2 days the hostel is quite recommendable. However, we would no...
