Hotel Mare Mare — Hotel in Saint Andrew

With the COVID restrictions, the hotel is only allowed to book out the whole hotel to a single group of travellers, meaning that it was a perfect getaway for 9 friends to enjoy over Christmas (and at an amazing price)! This rule meant we had the whole hotel to ourselves and with the open dining area, seating area outside the rooms and pool area, we had plenty of places to ensure distancing and relax. There was no food included, but we were given full use of the facilities, including the kitchen and washing machines. Each room has a comfortable bed, safe, AC unit, soap/shampoo/ towels and TV. There are no outside windows in the rooms but we found the rooms to be quier- we had one close to the pool and didn't hear our friends at all!) We liked that the hotel is outside of the main town as it was quiet- however it is worth having some transport as it was a 20 minute walk to a supermarket and 30 mins to the nearest beach (we hired golf carts so it was super easy). The owners were super friendly and helpful giving us advice on the local area. Be aware that there are a number of establishments called 'Mare mare' and that taxi drivers are not familiar with this one so be sure to show them...

Staff were stellar, reached out to me through Whatsapp several days before I arrived to ensure I knew how to get to the hotel, cost of taxi, etc. The property is a little off the beaten track, and while the rooms are very comfortable,there is 2nd story construction on the site. The hotel is about a 30 minute walk to the main downtown beach and board walk attractions. Hotel owners encouraged me to take the municipal bus system, which seems to operate regularly. The hotel restaurant is a little pricey, particularly for breakfast. The Italian cooking is excellent. There is an extra charge for drinking water provided with meals. The property holds great promise, once the second story...

We don't understand how this "hotel" can get any good reviews... dirty all over (floor, bathroom, bed, a/c, reception...), no hot water, the "shower" is just a pipe coming out of the wall, an unpaved street leads to the entrance, big parts are under construction and not even positioned in a good area... we immediately checked out again after seeing the room and they didn't even show any understanding or goodwill. They said, it would not be their fault... who's fault then?! They even charged us another 10% processing fee on top to the payment of the...
