Beware, there seem to be two types of rooms in La Posada La Nube. DO NOT expect a suite with a swimming pool or a room with windows in the eight bedrooms of the main courtyard. All you will get is a shabby room without windows, only shutters, a king size bed leaving virtually no free space in the room and a tiny bathroom with a plastic curtain in the shower. Decoration is minimal, i.e. non existent. The room I had, opening on the street, was contaminated by the exhaust gazes by day. However the street is very quiet at night, so noise is not an issue. |There is a tiny garden, but let’s face it, it is not unusual. |Breakfast is decent, but mean. You will get a choice between fruit OR eggs OR yogurt. Columbian coffee is however always a pleasure.|You will get a warm welcome with an excellent fruit juice. Surprisingly enough, later on, staff is rather unfriendly and silent, even with those who are fluent in Spanish. One of them did talk to me once, to request that I move away from the building when I was smoking outside. The problem is : it was raining. I don’t blame them for that. I only note that it is the only time they spoke to me after check-in.|There is one thing I do not understand : Why on earth would Lonely Planet recommend this second tier hotel as they do ? Maybe they got a suite with a swimming pool ? Still, I strongly disagree with their misleading comments and will let them know, since they are...
Read moreWe had a choice between El Portal and La Nube hotels in Barichara and chose the latter because it was recommended in the Lonely Planet guide with an emphasis on charm. BIG mistake. The Portal is brand new with big beautiful rooms, large beds, AC, TV, balconies with a bit of a view, swimming pool and parking inside the hotel grounds. La Nube, on the other hand, offers a tiny, dimly lit room with a tiny bed, narrow bathroom, a fan on the wall, no bedside lamps to be able to read at night, a mosquito net that doesn´t fit properly over the bed when 2 people are in it and parking which is several blocks away. The rooms are situated around a courtyard and the hotel kitchen which means you hear absolutely everything and it is nigh on impossible to relax with music playing, loud conversations, pots and pans banging, etc. The breakfast includes fresh fruit juice, a hot drink, a small bread basket and the choice of one item from the menu of about a dozen options. This is a bit stingy as in Colombia most hotels would also give you fresh fruit as well as eggs, but not at La Nube. All that for about US$120 a night. Painful...
Read moreI spent a night there. My parents were there too. All rooms are charming, bathrooms are nice and overall it was a great experience. ||||The hotel was small as it only has 8 rooms. the attention they provide to you is quite nice. All rooms keep the colonial feel that is expected of this beautiful town. As far as location goes, you could not do better. It is close to the town center.||||I was caught a little off guard with the mosquito net that is over all the beds but hey, the weather is so nice that there is no AC and people sleep with open windows. ||||Breakfast was included and nice. The courtyard is inviting and a great place to have a meal. We only ate breakfast there as there are plenty of options close by. Parking is 3 blocks away but for such a small town, it is really...
