This is probably the best deal in Tumaco in close proximity to the Beach (Playa Morro), a popular beach frequented by locals especially on Sundays. There are also beach bars for your enjoyment across from the hotel. The hotel has a cafeteria where I ate the first night only. There are restaurants close by that are better in price and quality of food (great seafood and fish). You can easily take a taxi to downtown or to the port to take a boat to an excluded beach for the day to get way from the Sunday crowd at Playa Morro. Tumaco is best enjoyed as a weekend getaway from Cali, Colombia. You can a direct flight from Cali with Avianca airlines (twice a day availability) and be in Tumaco within an hour enjoying the beach and the culture of the Pacific (please inquire with the hotel about the free shuttle service). Los Corales lacks a few things which kept me from giving an excellent grade. There is no elevator, so you will struggle carrying heavy luggage up to the 4th floor (top floor) or just walking in general. There is no hot water also, not that you need it on a hot day but for it to be a luxury hotel, this is required by most tourist from North America and Europe. The highlights are the pool area, airport shuttle, and beach bar. Having 100% access to the beach just a minute away is the real luxury of this hotel....
Read moreI wanted to see Tumaco after having visited other places of the Colomian Pacific Coast like Nuqui, Bahia Solano, Ensenada de Utria, Buenaventura etc. The goal was to relax a bit but it turned out that the beach in front of the hotel is more noisy at night than most nightlife areas in Bogota, Medellin or Cali. When checking in they told me that rooms with ocean view might be a bit noisy during night, but I underestimaated that and booked a room with ocean view. Due to the noise it was nearly impossible to sleep at night, but the staff at reception was very helpful and changed my room. My new room with pool view (inside) was better and I had a good sleep at night. Staff at reception is competent and friendly but the service in the restaurant is terrible. They don't even note when your glas is empty and never make an effort to come to your table to asks if you would like to order more (very inattentive and unprofessional, except two guys sometimes...
Read moreThe service and the food is excelent. you can taste all the "pacific flavor" in one meal. the fish with coconut sauce is impresive and elegant. the location is great, in front of the "EL MORRO" beach, it allows you to see the sunset in full view. The sunset here is like a impresionist painting, full of color and textures, I took great photos. the only problem I found was the noise at night, between 8pm and 1130pm, there is a lot of loud music because at the beach there is this so called "kioskos" where is "fiesta" (party) non-stop. I give an avise, take the back side rooms if you have problems with the noise and music, but you lose the morning and...
