Hotel Don Lolo — Hotel in Villavicencio

Booked this hotel at short notice. |Positives - fantastic location near to shops, bars, pharmacies, restaurants and several shopping centres. Great swimming pool area with a small bar, air conditioning in rooms and all rooms have Wi-fi as standard. Nice breakfast and lunch was also good. |Negatives - it took 40 mins to check in even though it wasn’t busy ! We had to fill out a form with passport details, ID cards, occupation of parents and their birthplace - why do they need to know that ???? Also asked for the serial number of my iPad or else wouldn’t let me use it - why ??? They also added 19% tax at check-in, a security charge and insurance charge without telling me which added 140,000 pesos to the original booking. They also made us pay up front when they didn’t do this for anyone else - why ?? The games area needs attention - the table tennis table has no balls, the table football table has no balls so it’s a bit of a waste of time. In the rooms the windows open at about waste height so are quite dangerous - especially as we were several floors up - for young children. More dangerous is the fact that they can’t be locked and are easy to open. This needs sorting urgently before a child falls to their death. The young guy at the pool bar closed the bar without telling us he was doing so which was not great while he also charged me for double drinks even though I hadn’t asked for them. Lots of niggly and annoying little things which added up means I wouldn’t stay...

Old facilities and too expensive for you're getting. For a little bit more you can get 4/5 Star hoteles with far better instalation, service and rooms. Breakfast is too repetitive if you're gonna stay for more than 3 days in a businesses trip I'll not recommended. Probably was a good hotel some decades ago but right know is too outdated. I enjoyed staying at this hotel. It was clean, quiet, fairly priced, and safe. The pool and the AC were great after a day in the heat of Villavicencio. The entire staff was cordial and helpful, especially the manager Alfredo. He went out of his way to help us and even found us a wonderful guide for a birdwatching trip.
