Hotel Aurora Arenal — Hotel in Arenal

On December 18, 2021 I had the opportunity to spend the night at the Aurora Inn.

This small hotel I find to be quite cozy, I did notice that the lack of use during the first year of pandemic, where all businesses were closed and hotels could not receive any guests, did show its tole as far as general maintenance was concerned, but that did not affect the service or quality of the place. Since hotels were allowed a 50% capacity I see that much of the needed maintenance has been worked on and is looking much better. It is also pet friendly.

The room was very clean, fresh smelling linen (almost new), clean bathroom and a very comfortable bed with new smelling pillows.

Despite the group of motor bikers that spent the night at the hotel we did not hear any noise from them and we were able to get a good nights rest.

The menu is rather small which I find makes it easier to select you meal, and boy was that good. I must say that eating there is well worth your time and money, prices are at well within reasonable.

One nice thing is that we were attended by the owner himself so we were able to share experiences and ideas on subjects that we both share, specially meat preparation, he makes a finger liking good smoked pork rib I wish I could make.

Its swimming pool was under repair at the time so I was not able to use it but should be finished by now.

Its location provides it with a spectacular view of the Arenal lake where you can and is across the street of the soccer field in front of the catholic church in the center of town. Very well located.

Will I return? You can count on it, I will be back on January 29th 2022, if health...

The first time my wife and I stayed here it was out of convenience and the price was right, I had been driving all day and I wanted to find an affordable place to rest. That right we dined on the restaurant and it was so good we stayed an extra night.

Now that I'm back visiting Costa Rica, I made the 2-hour drive their just try have the honey garlic chicken wings. The drive was well worth it plus the wings were as great as we remembered them being.

I highly recommend staying here and if you do get the room on the second floor that's closest to the lake. You'll have a great view for a great price. Then make your self to the restaurant and order the honey garlic chicken wings with either a pineapple or lemonade drink with yerbabuena "good herb".

Beautiful lake views, awesome costumer service. We stayed in la Aurora for two nights, the place is quiet, the food was amazing with reasonable prices and outstanding quality. Here you can taste organic coffee and food from local producers. The price included the breakfast which was really good (costa rican typical food, not the continental classic one). Luckily we got the room that had the best view, it was decorated nicely, we had hot water, internet and a smart tv. It's an excellent value for the price.
