Heaven on Earth with a Hammock: My Stay at The Nature’s Edge
Well, let me just start by saying, this Oklahoma girl had no idea what she was in for when I booked my trip to The Nature’s Edge Boutique Hotel in Uvita, Costa Rica. I’d never been to Costa Rica, much less a place where you’re practically in the rainforest—but oh my stars, what an experience! This little slice of paradise was the highlight of my whole year, and I haven’t stopped talking about it since.
First off, the place is like something out of a magazine. Lush greenery everywhere, flowers I’ve never even seen before, and views that make you want to pinch yourself just to make sure it’s real. My room was fabulous—airy, comfortable, and had the most glorious private terrace. But let me tell you, the real MVP of the trip? The hammock.
Y’all, I thought I knew relaxation, but that hammock taught me a whole new level. Every afternoon, I’d plop myself down with a book or just stare out at the jungle and listen to the sounds of nature. The birds singing, the breeze rustling the leaves, and that far-off hum of the ocean—it was absolute heaven. I may or may not have considered asking if I could buy that hammock and bring it home with me. (Still kicking myself for not trying harder.)
The hosts? Oh, they were sweeter than peach cobbler. They made me feel like family from the moment I arrived, always smiling and ready to help. They even helped me figure out which excursions to try, though honestly, I was half-tempted to just spend my entire stay in that hammock. But I did venture out! The nearby Whale’s Tail beach was magical and Keith gave me specific directions to a secured parking area! The jungle hikes made me feel like Indiana Jones (in a sundress).
And the breakfast Joe makes —oh my goodness. Everything was fresh and delicious, like a little party in my mouth every meal. I even tried plantains for the first time and loved them!
I’m telling you, if you’ve been dreaming of a getaway that lets you unplug, unwind, and just soak in the beauty of the world, The Nature’s Edge is your spot. Whether it’s your first time in Costa Rica or your fiftieth, this place will knock your socks off. Just don’t forget to spend some quality time with the hammock. You can...

Joe and Keith are very friendly and knowlegdeable hosts. They have a sense for privacy and yet manage a friendly and socially very nice atmosphere.
Nature You will have a great view and see lot of different species. Especially the variety of birds over the course of the day is worth mentioning. We saw more different species than in our three visits in different reservates. They even share their binoculars with you. At night you will hear the junglebas an asmr. The climate on top of the hill is a little more friendly than in the valley/uvita.
Organization The hosts javeza high standard on quality and so is the organisation in advance. The way up is interesting and a small adventure. I would recommend, to go to the supermarket in advance and buy some goodies/food in advance. Its also possible to order food, but once you are up that hill, you dont want to drive down, because its breathtaking beautiful uphill.
When we arrived we felt very welcomed and got a sense of the hosts and how they had their minds up for a comfortable stay. All thoughts and Informations were made under the ruling of not hurting nature and yet having a good stay.
The place itself Breathtaking view over a valley, wildlife and solid/high quality furniture. The kitchen has a pool and they have a lot (spices, Equipment) to share. Every room has fans and the whole concept makes a lot of sense.
Overall Its a really good place to stay. Its exactly what is to chose, when you want a quite place with lots to see. The place offers room to be for yourself and you will perceive the jungle as a friendly and comfortable place. For me it was the best place so far, because it was an interesting mix of the different places we visited during our stay in CRC. It had the interesting wildlife of and atmosphere Monteverde while the forest was offering its different greentones like in la fortuna. The hosts have a good mix of Services and preparations and yet let you structure your stay however you want. At the same time they are very nice and authentic persons, which leaves a good feeling everytime...
Read moreNature’s Edge Boutique Hotel in Uvita Costa Rica is an amazing place to vacation to unwind, relax and spend quality quiet time at. My wife and I booked the Aracari casita from September 14-19, 2025. Upon our arrival we were met by Joe and was greeted like we were family. Joe gave us a tour of our room and the entire grounds. He was thorough and made us feel right at home. The casita was beautiful and clean. I really admired the floor tile, and the bed was extremely comfortable. Some of the things available in the room that went above and beyond what I expected were they had fresh pineapple, chips, cookies, tissues and several informational brochures for sightseeing and excursions in the area. The view from the balcony was stunning. It overlooked the jungle and had a bird’s eye view of the mountains. |Each morning we were provided with a fabulous fresh and hot breakfast. Something that stood out to me was the attention that was given to our personal dietary likings. This was not expected, but I was very impressed with that level of detail and service. Another thing that stood out to me was Joe and Keith’s likeability and easy going attitude. We had great morning conversations with them during our breakfast which made our mornings so much more enjoyable. |Throughout our stay Joe and Keith stayed in touch with us to ensure we were happy with our accommodation and continued to ask if we needed anything else to make our stay better. They reserved several of the tours we wanted to go on, so that was a great help. All we needed to do was give them the date and time we wanted to go and they booked it. This was extremely helpful and allowed us to relax even more. |If I was asked to sum up our stay in a few words, it would be what an amazing and fun filed week we had on the mountain. This is a place I would definitely return to and will recommend to all my family and...
