These are new cabins added at the end of 2023 so don't be worried by the low number of reviews.||For those who have not been to Drakes bay before, Kalaluna restaurant (this lodge is on the same premisis and run by the same owners) is hands down the best restaurant in town. It is the one the guides and locals will all tell you is the best (and most expensive), so as one can expect the lodge is also run well.||There is no A/C in the room. Read no further if you require it. There is an ocean breeze of sorts and good ventilation, but it is not the same as A/C. I ended up enjoying this as you can enjoy the sounds of the ocean waves and bird songs without A/C (Costa Rican A/C units tend to be quite loud). There is actually some good bird action pretty much all day. Scarlet rumped tanager, grackles, some macaw and parakeet flybys, some others. All can be enjoyed from the balcony of each room.||The rooms are private bungalows, no shared walls, private bathroom and there are only 3 bungalows It feels quite private and cozy vs upscale/fancy, the staff is so warm and friendly, you will feel like a local after a few days. ||The shower is a tankless heating unit. Easy to turn to 0 for a cold shower, or turn up for a hot one which was perfect as my traveling partner and I are opposites.||Everything was very clean and the location is right there at the beach where the boats both drop you off and pick you up, it is so very convenient - especially since most tours start well before 6am||Something unexpected is the lodge has it's own private viewing balcony that you can climb up to. It has a nice high view of the bay that is unique.||I would stay here again on...
Read moreAdorable bungalow with a balcony with panoramic view of the bay. I was awestruck watching the scenery transition throughout the day while sitting in the balcony with a drink. It was also a great spot for bird watching - many cool birds coming to feed on the fruits on nearby trees. ||The room was clean, comfortable temperature with a fan on during the day and the breeze coming through the windows at night. The bathroom was also clean and I thought it was very nicely constructed. I enjoyed cooler showers after being hot and sweaty all day (it's generally difficult to get hot water with the tankless water heater, but the trick is to reduce the water flow if you want hot water). They said to not drink the tap water and had a jug of purified water available in the restaurant area. ||The bungalows are located up the hill behind the restaurant (Kalaluna Bistro). I had dinner there multiple nights during my stay and I really enjoyed the fresh seafood and the pasta as well as the drinks. It was a 'culinary experience' that felt otherworldly in a remote area . Reservation is needed to make sure they have a table for you, but very easy to do that once checked in. Bring bug spray as there are mosquitoes as expected. ||I flew in/out of Drake Bay airport and they called a taxi for me. Pick up at the airport was arranged beforehand through Booking.com messages, very smooth. $20 each way at the time I visited. ||Hospitality was incredible, one of the best I've ever experienced. Shirley and staff were friendly and made sure I enjoyed my stay. Thank...

From day 1 Claudio and Priscilla turned out to be great hosts, very kind and friendly. They really care and this shows in evrery detail. The view is incredible, the location is great since daily tours by boat depart only a few meters from our location. The food is top-notch and we would dine at Kalaluna bistrot every evening. Best restaurant in the whole region, dare I say. We ended up extending our stay, since we loved the chilled vibe of the place. Thank you also to Shirley, Yaroth, Brandon, Isac, Thairy for the service...
