Cabinas Murillo — Hotel in Bahía Drake

The property must have the BEST VIEWS in all of Drake Bay, excellent location within walking distance of everything including restaurants, tours, grocery store, and the beach. We sat on our balcony each day and watched at least 20 pairs of green parrots take off for the day and return each evening at sunset to nest in the nearby trees. The trees were full of vibrant birds and a huge green iguana. ||||Juan was a very helpful and friendly host, arranged all tours and transport, suggested places to eat, which beaches to walk to, anything we needed. He was very gracious and helpful and seemed available any time of day. All tours were through Picolina Tours, the neighboring business which I gave 5-star reviews. Juan also arranged our transportation to and from the airport. ||||The rooms are very basic and clean, with a wonderful balcony. There’s not “hot” water, but it’s warm and honestly was the perfect temperature (it seems silly now, but being from cold Alaska I was actually worried about this prior to our stay). There is a public use kitchen with two fridges, which I suggest you use for any and all food. DO NOT leave food in your room or ants will be an issue. We don’t suffer from ants in Alaska so this was a learning experience for us the first night. No meals or food are provided, but there are plenty of very close restaurants and two grocery stores within a 5 minute walk. There is a nice big fan set up to cool you off while sleeping, and plenty of screened windows for a fresh breeze. You need to run the fan not only to keep cool but also as white noise for the traffic at all hours of the night. ||||Cabinas Murillo is an EXCELLENT value and we would stay...

We spent three nights in total at Cabinas Murillo and really liked it. Juan was very helpful in reserving our boats in and out from Seirpe and answering other questions prior to arrival. He even met us off the boat and drove us up to the Cabinas which was a nice surprise and offered to give us a lift back down but we walked as it is located close to the beach. We stayed in to different rooms as we split our stay with a night in the national park. Both rooms were clean and well kept. Both rooms had fans which were good for keeping you cool. The rooms both had good size sheltered porches which were lovely to sit on and enjoy the view across the bay. The location, service and cleanliness exceeded my expectations. For that reason I am giving 5 stars. If you are hesitant whether to go with this option, I am here to tell you go for it as there wont be a better location for this price. I wished they did better was improved insulation as it was easy to hear the room beside me. I also wished there was a small fridge in the room. Juan made our experience much better as he provided excellent service along with the entire crew. If I ever came back to Drake I would totally stay here again....
