I felt right at home at Colibri Rouge! Mathieu and Perrine really went the extra mile to make me feel welcome, especially as a solo traveler I really appreciated our conversations.

The room was clean and modern, and having airco at this price point, how could you complain?? Of course if you're looking for a 5 star experience you will need to look for something else (and for a different budget..). This is a family run hotel, that offers one of the best price/quality ratio in the area.

I was offered countless tips and recommendations that were all spot on. In fact Perrine took care of arranging my activities, making sure you get quality guides and don't need to play roulette accepting random offers in town.

You're a little bit outside of Cahuita, which means you don't need to deal with being in town with all the tourists, but still very quick access to the parks, beaches, and restaurants. Bribri waterfalls and Puerto Viejo are also close by.

Breakfast was delicious and hand made. They also offer some drinks and souvenirs art the reception.

You can relax in the pool or jacuzzi after a long day hiking/swimming/sweating.

I definitely recommend if you're looking for a family style hotel that doesn't hurt the wallet.

Mathieu, Perrine, changez rien vous...

This is the only time in all of Costa Rica I have left a bad review. And the only time in a long time I’ve been rude to a customer service person. I understand that my group did not follow all of the rules exactly but the hotel owner continued to bother us and gave us absolutely no slack. And then when we were an hour late for our check out which I understand isn’t great. But tico time is a thing and we are at the beach. But we came back to all of our stuff outside shoved in different bags no one knew where anything was and I confronted the hotel owner because I thought this was very unprofessional and she continued to watch over us as we searched through our stuff. She isn’t “unprofessional” but she put an open beer into a bag with a phone charger. Additionally the sign said she spoke English and she didn’t speak any at all. Her hotel is nice however it wasn’t worth the hassle to stay here. I have truly stayed in amazing places here but this is not...

My husband, my 14 year old daughter Lucky and I stayed here in July 2021. It was amazing. The grounds are a source of pride for the owners, and understandably so. The road traffic is not as bad as most people say, the monkeys are what wake you. The privacy hedges really help with the traffic. Every morning the food was delicious and beautifully plated, and served at your schedule, which is great! Irina will offer laundry services at a great price. The rooms are a little small but the outside areas make up for that. Cleanliness is on the top of the list. You basically have run if the entire hotel. The community kitchen is very clean and maintained well. Perfect if you just want a romantic weekend, a getaway with the kids, or a family get together. We were not disappointed in anything at all. Irina and Aurelie are perfect,...

This place was comfortable with a lot of character. There was a pool and a hot tub that I wouldn't call hot, but it's Costa Rica in the jungle...you do not need a scalding tub..the air is hot. Haha The French couple that run the place may seem a little standoffish at first (to Americans) but that's just a cultural thing, they were great. For an additional fee you can have breakfast prepared. There is a communal kitchen on site. In the morning you can hear howler monkeys and see capuchin if you keep your eyes on the surrounding jungle which is part of a national park. About a 5 minute drive town and 3 minute walk to the jungle.

This place is by the main road. The passing vehicles are destroing the calmness of the nature around the property. It is noisy. The rooms are very small. The door of the bathroom can not close from outside. It is unpleasant to sleep while the bathroom has open door. There are clean sheets and towels, hot water and only a regular hard soup, no shampoo. During the night some small ants were on our bed. They walked on my face. I guess they were not dangerous. The breakfast was ok. Pool was ok, too. A French family is managing the hotel. They are very nice.
