Olguita's Place — Hotel in Cahuita

Olguitas Place was where we launched our Costa RIcan vacation with our 10-year-old twins and it was amazing. Reynaldo, Isis, and Naytana are incredible hosts, ensuring you have everything you need, understand how everything works, and going above and beyond teaching about the fruits, plants, and sugar cane growing on the property. They brought us coconuts and were incredibly warm and helpful. We planned a pretty full vacation, but we would have loved to spend more time just getting to know these fantastic hosts. Our kids played with Naytana whenever we were home. We saw incredible wildlife from the back porch - basilisk lizards, an iguana, great green macaws...it was incredible.

The only warning I have, and the only thing that could have made it better, is this area had a ton of mosquitoes when we were there (though I've read some reviews that say people didn't see any mosquitoes, so maybe this was unusual), and the screens on doors and windows had holes in them. A little piece of heaven - could have stayed here longer! At first, when we arrived by taxi, it seemed that we were quite far away from everything. But hostess Isis organised bikes for us and then we were set. Biking to the different parts of the beach was so lovely and there are yummy restaurants within a short bike ride away. Great beach and snorkling just in front of property. We had a coffee machine in our room and a fridge, so were able to make our own breakfasts. Some rooms have a full kitchen, for those who prefer to cook. Hottest shower in Costa Rica. Absolute highlight of our month in Costa Rica and a hidden gem on the Carribean coast. We had a great time... Isis and Rey are great people, very kind and friendly... They shared with me and my family star-fruit, and coconut water and opened-up the Coco for us to enjoy... For my nephew from USA it was a unique experience. They have different size cabins up to 6 people and camping space with all services. Great looking and well maintained property. Just 100m away from the beach full of underwater life. My kids spent hours snorkeling and saw coral, lots of fish and Dory kind of fish. Not so crowded beach Punta Uva, very safe and clean.
