This is a huge property with a myriad of activities. While we were there, a soccer tournament was going on providing some good entertainment for an afternoon. There is a large competitive style pool, tennis courts, basketball... it basically serves as the sport's complex for the area. ||One thing to note, pay attention to how you enter, we used Gmaps coming from the Caribbean, and it took us to the back entrance, which is how we discovered the sport's complex. Entry from the front will put you in the landscaped hotel, a preferred welcome.||Reception is efficient and friendly. Rooms are dated. Our tub was stained and somewhat daunting the way it seemed to flex under our weight. The water was luke warm at best, definitely not hot. Smelled kind of foul in the bathroom and a musty in the bedrooms. The small fridge was a nice idea, but it had been unplugged and emanated it's own unpleasant odor. The internet was frequently out, posing a few challenges. It was available in the lobby, but not what I wanted to do to login.||The casino is a dive. a dark room with reject electronic machines, an armed guard, and a bored attendant who was not issued a smile. ||Breakfast is a buffet, bland, institutional hot side. Piles of fruit on the...
Read moreWe stayed just one night on our way to Tortuguero. The rooms appeared to have had a recent refresh, were clean, had ac, fridge, hot water, bathtub and shower along with many toiletries and even a hair dryer available for use. The lobby was welcoming and provided coffee and water. I appreciated the helpful staff at the front desk who assisted us with a taxi driver to Cariari which worked much better for us than the bus the next day. The grounds gardens are very well kept, they have security watching the cars and a massive pool/recreation center on site. ( it is the areas country club in addition to a hotel and even has a small casino, which I did not visit.)||We enjoyed meals in the restaurant which was decorated festively for the holidays and served typical costa Rican foods, along with American favorites, the menu had Spanish and English descriptions. The free breakfast buffet was served by very professional staff. I would stay here again on my way down to excursions along the Carribean Coastal areas of Costa Rica, we had a very...
Read moreThis hotel is an absolute disgrace. The staff have zero professionalism, zero education, and zero idea how to treat guests. We ordered a Coke Zero and two ice creams at the pool, gave our room number (as you would at any normal hotel), and assumed we’d settle at checkout. Instead, at 9pm two thugs straight out of a cartel movie came banging on our door while we were asleep, demanding immediate payment.||||We paid — but the clowns managed to charge us in pesos instead of dollars. Their solution? Wake us up again by phone and send another mob to hammer on the door for $14. All this while the hotel already had our card details on record. Absolute madness.||||The place itself is tacky, loud, and chaotic. Reception staff are rude beyond belief and don’t expect a single word of English. In three weeks traveling across Costa Rica — from high-end resorts to budget guesthouses — we’ve had nothing but wonderful experiences everywhere… except here.||||This is hands down the worst hotel in Costa Rica. Stay away. We’ll never set foot in...
