Bio Thermales Hot Springs, located near Aguas Zarcas and Quesada in San Carlos, Costa Rica, offers a serene retreat within a 35-acre private rainforest. Just a 45-minute drive from Fortuna and Arenal Volcano, this eco-friendly destination provides visitors with an authentic experience of Costa Rica's natural beauty. Accommodations Guests can choose from handcrafted casitas (cottages) and unique treehouses, each equipped with essential comforts, including air conditioning. These accommodations are designed to immerse visitors in the rainforest environment, offering opportunities to observe local wildlife such as monkeys, sloths, and a variety of bird species right from their porches or balconies. Hot Springs The property features 15 natural hot spring pools, fed by ancient geothermal waters that have been underground for over 10,000 years. Rich in minerals like bicarbonates, calcium, and magnesium, these chemical-free pools offer a range of temperatures to suit different preferences. Surrounded by lush rainforest, they provide a tranquil setting for relaxation and rejuvenation. Guest Experiences Visitors often praise the peaceful atmosphere and the opportunity to connect with nature. One guest highlighted the experience of waking up to toucans and monkeys, emphasizing the authentic Costa Rican ambiance. Another described the hot springs as "heavenly and relaxing," noting the soothing effect of the warm, mineral-rich waters. Considerations While the resort offers a rustic and immersive experience, some guests have noted areas for improvement. For instance, the absence of potable water in certain areas and the lack of on-site dining options mean visitors should plan accordingly by bringing their own food and beverages. Conclusion Bio Thermales Hot Springs provides a unique blend of natural beauty, relaxation, and authentic Costa Rican culture. Its commitment to sustainability and preserving the rainforest enhances the appeal for those seeking an eco-friendly getaway. Whether you're soaking in the mineral-rich pools, staying in a treehouse, or exploring the surrounding rainforest, Bio Thermales offers a memorable and rejuvenating experience.

This is one of the lesser known thermal springs spots in the Northern zone of Costa Rica but it certainly is the most affordable. We absolutely loved the place. We visited on a weekday. We hear the place packs with families on the weekends so we left before that happened. The thermal pools are beautifully designed with warmer temp pools surrounded by pool a few degrees cooler so you can cool down a bit without walking down the trail to another pool. The best pools are along the wooded trail. Common pools are in a communal area, including the cold pools with slides. We stayed in the Tucano room and just adored it. The artfully crafted doors, fixtures, and beds were impressive. Service was lovely. They even have menus for pizza delivery. I can't express how wonderful Bio thermales is. We loved every minute there.

We are 3 adults visiting the hot springs for the 1st time. We purchased our $8 day passes and were totally unprepared for 1 of the "Best Surprises" and definitely the "Best Value" of our month long visit to Costa Rica. If this is not listed on the "Must Visit" locations in Costa Rica - it should be. We enjoyed a wonderful day set in the most idyllic natural setting which, in addition to the variety of warm and hot pools, also included monkeys, butterflies, and a nature walk, which encircles the facility Although we visited before the peak tourist season, this is obviously a very "Family Friendly" environment with the amazing Treehouses sure to provide lots of great Family Memories. There are several Hot Springs in the area, and I'm really glad we chose this one.

First of all I would like to thank Kathy & Bernie for being such amazing host, super helpful, friendly with a lot of tips to make our 3 night stay AMAZING. You’ve left an impression on our hearts that make us want to comeback to CR. We Loved the Tree house how it was nestled back into the rainforest, waking up to the sound of nature, surrounded by water so soothing .. The grounds were spotless and it was way more than imagined PLUS the BONUS was my 12 y/o daughter LOVED it. The Hot & Cold springs were just what the Dr. ordered after a long day of excursions, the gates were closed in the evening so you can have the entire grounds/springs to yourself. We ordered Dinner a couple nights that was delivered to the tree house and was very pleased with cost, presentation and taste. Frank our knowledgeable Tour/Driver was recommended by Kathy – and I can’t stop raving about him, I don’t think our trip would have been as amazing if we didn’t have him as our CR guide. We didn’t have to drive anywhere. He picked us up from the airport, made so many stops to show us waterfalls and views along the wayside, gave us tips, and drove us to and from our excursions, also made sure we stopped to eat, took us to the market for groceries and even took us through the rainforest on the grounds. Thank you guys from the bottom of our hearts, can’t wait...

Wow! We were blown away with how beautiful this location is! So the story is that these hot springs from from the heat deep within the tectonic plates, and the water here is estimated 10,000 years old! We are swimming in old history. The owners of this place started it 14 years ago when it was all cow pastures with springs here and there. They built it over the years to what it is now and what an amazing job they did! We stayed in a house on the ground as well as the treehouse! The kitchens were enough to cook food, store food a d feel lived in! We even bbq’ed outside :) The springs were amazing and varied from different heats, depending on what you enjoy. Clean, well maintained and nature and animals everywhere! We even saw monkeys eating mangos in the trees above us while enjoying the springs! If you want a relaxing authentic Costa Rican experience, this is the place to go, worth every penny :) Come stay, relax and enjoy yourself, the town of Cooper even has some cute restaurants and shops to peruse through! A must see and must come stay! You won’t regret it! Thanks for all the kindness and hospitality, the next time we come back, we will definitely be back! Thanks...
