We recently had the pleasure of visiting and staying at Kraes with my beautiful girlfriend and friends, an Irish pub nestled in the mountains of Nosara, yet, a stone throw away from the surf, and I must say, it was a delightful experience from start to finish. Kraes manages to capture the essence of an authentic Irish pub while adding its own unique charm and flair, making it a standout gem in the area.
Let's start with the food. The sandwiches at Kraes are nothing short of amazing. A proper classic Reuben, her own poke(tuna tower) recipe, boom boom shrimp, and a large etc. Kraes delivers in every aspect. Each sandwich and app is made with care and attention to detail, boasting generous portions of quality ingredients. The flavors are perfectly balanced, leaving you wanting more with each bite.
But it's not just the food that makes Kraes a standout establishment; it's the warm and welcoming atmosphere created by the Kerri herself. From the moment you walk and a "Pub: the original irish sun block" sign greets you you know you are in the right place. Kerri went out of her way to make sure we felt at home, providing recommendations and engaging in friendly conversation.
The ambiance of Kraes further enhances the overall experience. The pub is beautifully decorated with traditional Irish elements, creating an authentic and cozy atmosphere, along with magnificent views of Nosara. Whether you choose to sit at the bar, relax at one of the tables or the outside beer garden, you'll find yourself surrounded by the warmth and charm of a quaint irish/guanacasteco pub, in the best way possible.
In addition to the outstanding food, service, and atmosphere, Kraes also has a nice selection of beverages. From whiskey collection to a wide range of costarican craft beers, and Irish pub stapples like Sam Adams and Guiness, there is something to satisfy every palate.
Overall, Kraes is an absolute must-visit for anyone in Nosara seeking a memorable experience. Whether you're a fan of irish pub grub, or simply looking for a friendly and welcoming environment, Kraes ticks all the boxes. The combination of excellent food, attentive service, and a genuine Irish pub atmosphere make Kraes stand out among the crowd. I cannot recommend this place enough, and I look forward to my next visit to Kraes when I'm in Nosara...
Read moreI recently stayed a K-Rae’s Inn and Irish Pub Nov 28th - Dec 4th 2024. It was a vacation I will remember forever! The accommodations were lovely, the rooms were spacious, very clean and had a coffeemaker, small fridge, microwave, and a TV. The “pub food” was superb, the tuna tower, chicken and spinach wontons were among my favorites but of course there were burgers and fried fish bites… too. Carolina is amazing to watch in the outdoor kitchen, it was apparent she has a lot of pride in her food preparation. Marge was there as an intern and her enthusiasm for learning and helping things run smoothly was extremely apparent. The grounds were a tropical paradise, plants, coconut trees, and flowers all just steps from my room thanks to Olvin’s dedication to his work. I also enjoyed the view, it is breathtaking. Looking towards the valley below and the mountain range on the other side was a perfect focal point to meditate as I watched the sunrise every morning. An added treat, during one of our lunches on the beer garden terrace white faced and howler monkeys were traveling through the adjacent trees. We all got up and started taking pictures and videos of them jumping from tree to tree. One came close enough to get an amazing video of him jumping up and down and a close-up head shot, what a thrill. The next day a toucan landed in a tree adjacent to the beer garden what a treat, Kerri and others said they've never seen on in the area. K-Raes, is a perfect getaway spot, whether staying there as a guest at the Inn or there for a few drinks, lunch and a swim. YES, a swim I learned if you want to get away from the hot lowlands near the beach you can venture up the mountain and enjoy the cooler mountain air and cool down with a swim, kids allowed too, it was so much fun watching them enjoy the pool. Of course, finally is Kerri, aka K-Rae, she was the conductor of the symphony ensuring all went well for her guests. Also, she helped plan other activities, a quad tour, a trip to see sea turtles emerging from their nest in the sand. Dinner suggestions and so much more. Kerri thank you so much for being the hostess with...

From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the stunning gardens and landscaping that surrounded the property. The food and beverages at K-raes were nothing short of delicious and refreshing! Each meal was prepared with love from the fabulous Carolina. Whether it was a quick lunch or a refreshing cocktail by the pool, every bite and sip was delightful.
Speaking of the pool, it was the perfect spot to unwind and cool off. The inviting water and the surrounding lounge area made it easy to spend hours splashing around or simply soaking up the sun.
