This hotel had 4 rooms available on more than one website. I decided to book it on Expedia. I received a call less than 24hrs away from my booking time advising me that they had been overbooked by expedia. This, however is not true, because they were showing 4rooms in several websites, including tripadvisor. I wasn't able to cancel my booking, because I wouldn't have received a credit from Expedia as it was less than 24hrs notice. I was told by the hotel that they receive payment from Expedia once the reservation time has passed and then they would credit me. It has been three months, numerous phone calls and a tiring number of emails and I still don't have my money back for a service that they did not provide. Expedia confirmed paying them and refuses to take any responsibility, even blaming the hotel for overbooking sometimes in order to not have any rooms empty, even if that means ripping off customers. I have been dealing with the manager Bryan Moya and the owner Ivan Zuniga with absolutely no success. I used to receive a response with false promises of returning my money soon, but even that has stopped now. So my advise, do not give your credit card info until you get to the hotel and are guaranteed a room. Otherwise, be prepared to be robbed! ||I would like to add that I did visit this town and stayed at a different hotel. I saw this hotel and not near the beach. Read moreI chaperoned a group of high school students to CR in June 2016, and we stayed one night at HCP.||Comfortable rooms but don't eat in your room. Ants entered the room of one of our travelers when she left food out and crawled all over her bed. OK, that was her mistake, but just a heads up.||Internet only in common areas, not in rooms.||The walk to the beach was do-able and took abut 10 minutes.||No one is on site during evening and nighttime hours, so if you have an emergency during those hours, you are out of luck. ||Also, the in-room safes were very difficult to use. Not like most safes that simply require a key or allow the user to create a pass code. With help from a staff member at check-in, I was able to use our safe to lock up our passports, but we were unable to open the safe to get them out! I will start with the pros- This hotel was conveniently located, had very kind staff and on first look seemed to have all the amenities we were looking for.
However,
1- the wifi cut out frequently 2- the taps in the bathroom (sink and shower) never got hot or cold, they just stayed room temperature 3- the people who did our check in and check out didn't speak much English which complicated things a bit And 4- The Roosters. Every night, starting around 230 AM the roosters would start to crow and continue until morning. The room must not have been insulated well as there was 0 blocking of sound, making it sound like you had a rooster in the room with you making it impossible to sleep.
