When my friend and I spent Christmas in 2021 in the Manuel Antonio/Quepos area we stayed in a wonderful B&B or guesthouse that’s called the Casa Huéspedes Pura Vida Guest House on Barrio Las Brisas and it’s 300 meters away from a popular seafood restaurant that’s called Marisqueria Jiuberths and thankfully all of the taxi cabs and collectivos know where the Marisqueria Jiuberths restaurant is!
The Casa Huéspedes Pura Vida Guest House is just one minute outside of Quepos where the Quepos bus station is and thankfully it’s just a ten minute drive from the nearest small domestic airport which is the Quepos airport.
The owners of the Casa Huéspedes Pura Vida Guest House are Jorge and Pamela Camacho and the building of the Casa Huéspedes Pura Vida Guest House is bright green, it has a couple of open terraces on it and it has a couple or a few little bungalows as well that are made of solid wood.
Jorge speaks excellent English and he’s quite well traveled. He worked for several years at the Hotel La Mariposa which is in the Biesanz area and then bought land in a humble, quiet, lush and green suburb of Quepos and built up his guesthouse or B&B called the Casa Huéspedes Pura Vida Guest House.
It’s quite clean, very quiet and Jorge is approachable, very polite and helpful.
Breakfast is extra but is quite cheap. Jorge cooks the traditional Costa Rican breakfast that’s called the ‘gallo pinto’ and his coffee tastes absolutely excellent and doesn’t even need any sugar or milk in it at all. Jorge and Pamela can also pick up their guests from and drop off their guests directly to the Quepos airport for free.
You can pay Jorge in cash in person directly for a room or bungalow or you can pay him via MoneyGram through the BCR banks as I did before I left London to go out there.
Plus the Casa Huéspedes Pura Vida Guest House has excellent WiFi reception! Even after it rained heavily during the middle of the night and very early in the morning a couple of times. Their WiFi just totally stayed the course! My friend brought her laptop etc in order to quickly catch up with work for her clients a couple of times and she wasn’t slowed down at all because the WiFi at the Casa Huéspedes Pura Vida Guest House is so good and quick.
Whatever you do DO NOT confuse Jorge and Pamela Camacho’s charming little Casa Huéspedes Pura Vida Guest House right by the Marisqueria Jiuberths in Quepos with the Pura Vida Hostel which is also in Quepos and quite nearby.
The former the Casa Huéspedes Pura Vida Guest House is bright green, basic but quite clean and has some charm and even though it’s described as a ‘hostel’ by some people online it really isn’t - the Casa Huéspedes Pura Vida Guest House is a B&B or guesthouse because each room and bungalow has its own bathroom and there are no dorm rooms or shared beds or shared bathrooms in there at all. It’s just that there’s a kitchen area up on the terrace that’s open and is a public shared area for the guests so that they can cook, make tea or coffee or use the two fridges and freezers if they want to. But it’s not a hostel.
The latter the Pura Vida Hostel in Quepos is a real hostel with a bunch of dorm rooms with bunk beds and shared bathrooms and it’s in a much larger building that’s white, has a lot of terraces and has a bunch of flags of different countries hanging outside all over the whole building. Plus the Pura Vida Hostel in Quepos sounds really gross and not well kept up at all. It’s more for dirt poor drunken 19 year olds who have no choice and whom probably don’t even...
Read moreJorge and Pamela were the most perfect hosts, from when we arrived after a 20 minute walk (after our previous accomdation cancelled on us last minute) to be greeted to some refreshing snacks and homemade pan de yucca, to Jorge finding a room for us when the guesthouse was completely full. We stayed in the small house in the garden and it was perfect. Clean, comfortable, with a powerful shower and a small kitchenette (in addition to the brilliantly clean and well stocked kitchen in the main house). The best part of our stay was the kindness and helpfulness from Jorge and Pamela, Jorge gave us a lift down to Quepos on a couple of occasions, and also have us all the information we needed about our visit to Manuel Antonio and our next destination. Unfortunately we missed the on site breakfast but it looked delicious! Will be back to stay again when we come back...
Read moreNice place which has a good vibe. The owner cares about his guests and we arrived they welcome us with fresh fruit. After we got our room he took us with his car on quick tour around the town to show us the places we might find useful. The rooms are clean, cozy and spacious. Kitchen is also well maintained and there are amenities for basic cooking. Coffee and drinking water available all day. WiFi is good and sufficient speed for streaming Netflix or Youtube. Nights are quiet (except a rooster crowing early in the morning😁) It's a little farther away from the town but if you ask I'm sure Jorge would give you a lift however it's still in walking distance anyway ( some 30 minutes on foot.) We spent there 3 nights and had a chance to meet some nice people with interrest Ing...
