When we arrived, it was pouring rain and we were a little skeptical of staying in the dome. However, in an hour or so, the rain subsided, and we settled into our little adventure. The dome remained dry and was equipped with a coffee maker and microwave, along with satellite TV. The dome sits on a platform overlooking the small petting farm and garden. A young man came down and asked us what time we would like breakfast. Around 6:00 pm we walked up the hill to the restaurant and enjoyed our dinner - just the two of us - along with Luna, who was an ever-polite dog who walked with us back to our place at the bottom of the hill after dinner. A homemade breakfast arrived right on time, which we enjoyed on the deck outside. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. While we only stayed for one night, as we were on our way to the Arenal Volcano later that day, we were not able to enjoy any excursions in the area. If you are up for something new, definitely give this place a try.||||If we to offer a small recommendation, it would be to provide the room with a fan to help circulate the air. Because there are no windows in the dome, it can get a little stuffy and a fan would have provided...

I have found a good place for a good get away and that is San Vicente hideaway.
It is a very small hotel with only 3 rooms and 2 cabins all very comfortable and with all the necessary items to fill your basic needs. It is also pet friendly.
The road is paved all the way to San Vicente town and very well kept gravel road for the last 3 kilometers, any car can make it up the road.
No Noise from the city or from next door, the cabins have a fire place that makes it very cozy at night and helps keep you warm due to the cold climate up in the mountains.
The restaurant serves a limited selection of dishes, but for home cooking, it is fabulous, in my opinion.
It is run and operated by family members and they all are very helpful and informative.
Nice access to the Juan Castro Blanco National Park, excellent walking trails, Lots of birds and other creatures to see, nice cool humid mountain climate.
As for me, would I recommend this place? Defenetly.
I already have a couple of friends wanting to come for a weekend...
Read moreThis place was highly recommended to us and I immediately booked the dome room for the following day. As soon as we settled in our cabin/room we went back up to main house and ordered lunch. The chicken was either miss handled, cooked improperly or both. I immediately felt ill and then ended up with diarrhea and vomiting for the next 12+ hours. This was obviously not done intentionally, however, it truly hundred our limited vacation time. We were extremely excited to stay there and truly looking forward to it. We had plans to make the 2+ hours hike to see the waterfall and stay an additional night.
We visit Costa Rica two to three times a year and often times repeat the same hotels, however this will not be one of them. I didn't get billed for our lunch and if they'd gone the extra step of refunding our night I would have given this a higher rating and I would have given it a second chance.
I'm sure this was an isolated incident and it's highly unlikely and I hope no one else will...
