Let me start out by saying that if I could give 10 stars, I would without a doubt. Traveling abroad for the first time is a very thrilling experience but can also be very stressful. Going into the unknown is something that is always a bit unsetting for most. Between the visa requirements, language barriers, currency exchange and all-around thought of stepping out of your comfort zone, it is so comforting to know that you can be so far from what you are used to and still feel like you are at home. Jenna and Drew made us feel this way, they opened their doors to us with welcoming, warm arms. From the minute we started planning our trip to the Villas Tangerine (about 9 months ago), they walked us through every step of the way to make sure we were fully prepared for the experience of a lifetime. They had a shuttle arranged for our drive from the airport in Liberia to Samara, the driver was very kind and helped us bring our luggage to our rooms even. Even though we arrived at the villa around midnight, Jenna was still there to great us with a smile and go over everything before we settled in. She explained to us that there will be breakfast made every morning for us in the Rancho, and she showed us that we had our own spots in the fridge for groceries if we wanted to get some from the market during our stay. The rooms were EXTREMELY clean and so well maintained. The showers had hot water (very hot), an AC unit, a tv (with Netflix), comfortable beds/pillows, a safe to keep your valuables in and a beautiful place to store your belongings and clothes so they aren't cramped in your luggage the whole vacation. Every morning around 5am, you are awakened by the howler monkeys migrating from the jungle to the beach for the day. When I tell you that the noise these monkeys make is something you would hear from a Jurassic Park movie, I'm not kidding, it's alarming at first but then you almost start to become hypnotized by these astonishing animals. ||When Jenna mentioned to us that there would be breakfast prepared for us each morning, we were not expecting the gorgeously plated dishes that sat before us. The chef behind all the magic was such an outstanding human. He poured his heart and soul into every single piece of food that was placed on the table. He made the food fresh each day, from scratch. There was always fresh fruit, fruit juice, and coffee that was made from a unique device called a chorreador, which has been used in Costa Rica for hundreds of years. After breakfast, Jenna and Drew would sit down and talk about tons of things and adventures we could do during our stay. If there was something where there needed a shuttle to be arranged or reservations to be made, they made sure we were taken care of and were scheduled accordingly in order for us to get to where we needed when we needed to be there. They even organized for us to rent banana bikes to ride around town and took us to pick them up, as well as a golfcart (prices are not included in the hotel stay but are very affordable). Some of the escapades we did, we wouldn't have been able to do without their help. We went on a boat tour through the Cipanci Wildlife Refuge and saw crocodiles, iguanas, howler monkeys, capuchin monkeys, and a huge array of birds. We also went on a ziplining tour through the jungle and a beautiful 10-mile round trip hike to the most breathtaking waterfall. On our last night in Costa, Drew and Jenna even threw us a bonfire on the beach as a beautiful, yet bittersweet goodbye.||If you have made it this far through my review, I thank you for taking the time to read about our amazing endeavor, but most importantly, I hope you decide to stay at Villas Tangerine. This is something that will change your life forever and I promise that the time you spend with these kind, genuine people will forever leave a footprint in your heart. I recommend everyone stays here if traveling to Samara, we will be making a yearly trip here moving forward. ||Pura...

This was my third stay at Villas Tangerine, and each visit has been nothing short of amazing. I've stayed in the Twin room, the King Suite, and this time, the 2-Bedroom Villa—and every experience has been exemplary. I feel like I've found my second home in Samara!
The rooms, though cozy, are always perfectly appointed, comfortable, and incredibly clean. The attention to detail is evident in every corner. And while breakfast isn’t included with the 2-Bedroom Villa, the breakfast served daily at the Rancho is something I always look forward to when staying in the King suite or standard rooms. Each day offers a different, delicious option that never disappoints.
The grounds of the hotel are beautiful—lush, green, and so serene. Whether you're lounging by the pool or taking in the tropical surroundings, it's a peaceful retreat. The staff? They're always friendly, helpful, and genuinely eager to make your stay as perfect as possible.
This time, the 2-Bedroom Villa really stole the show. It's spacious enough for a group of up to five people, offers some extra privacy from the rest of the hotel, and even comes with its own private pool. It’s the perfect spot for relaxing after a day at one of the nearby beaches or exploring Samara.
Overall, Villas Tangerine has made my vacations unforgettable every time. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a truly special getaway. I’ll definitely be back for a fourth round of...
Read moreThe pictures on Villas Tangerines's website are beautiful, and for once the actual place is even more impressive when you see it in person! We felt safe and secure on the grounds and could easily walk to multiple beaches, the town of Samara and its many restaurants and shops. We would go back in a hearbeat. The grounds are beautiful and relaxing. A privacy fence separates you from the road on one side, and a long span of pasture with animals and birds, including birds of prey, is your neighbor on the other side. Jenna and husband Drew help you acclimate as soon as you arrive and help you choose things to do every day. Each morning starts with a great breakfast (honestly, our favorite food of the trip), so you don't have to go anywhere when you wake up wanting coffee, fresh cold juice, and a wonderful meal. The local fruit is so good it's almost worth the trip all by itself. Jenna helped us know best spots to buy it and we ate it every day. We also loved watching and listening to the howler monkeys and other wildlife. The pace of your stay is whatever you choose. We settled in, explored the area, sampled the cuisine, stuck our toes in the sand, found time just to sit and talk, and for once got back home feeling like we did not need to rest up from our vacation. Book your stay at Villas Tangerine with full confidence knowing you are in the best hands in this...
