Hotel Las Brumas — Hotel in San Rafael

Hotel is located on a main road in Cartago. They have a private/gated parking garage, which you can enter and exit 24 hours a day. The front desk lady was very pleasant and helpful.

The rooms are basic but clean. We got a basic room with terrace view to the city of Cartago, which is awesome, both; at night and during the day too.

They give you a complimentary breakfast in the restaurant next door, but I do not recommend neither the food and especially not the service. The waiters are extremely rude. I guess they didn’t like the fact we had a complimentary breakfast because we ordered coffee and juice, twice and they didn’t bring it until the second time, with attitude included. We had a flat tortilla-like with ham and cheese (the menu said it was an omelette), which wasn’t bad per se, but did not have much flavor either. Super noisy - you can hear everything in the next rooms and hallways, the flooring makes every footstep squeak and it sounds like there are elephants running up and down the halls. Paper thin walls, other guests making noise until late and then early in the morning, extremely noisy (shouting to each other, banging the vacuum into the walls and furniture, they didn’t care at all) housekeeping staff starting before 6am. We chose this as our airport hotel upon arriving in Costa Rica as we were heading to the mountains. They let is in the room several hours early as we were exhausted from 24hrs of travel. The room was large with a big private bathroom and clean. There is a great view of Cartago. The hotel restaurant was good and free breakfast was offered.
