Hotel La Calle de Alcala — Hotel in Santa Cruz

Stayed here 4 nights. Had hot water first two then no more. Front desk staff had different stories about it (being fixed to we don't have it). Lovely pool with swim up bar and kiddie pool too. Variety of room options and nice verandas with rockers and chairs. Comes with breakfast (eggs, Gallo Pinto, tortilla y crema, coffee or refresco if you ask). Pool towels available at front desk if you ask. Room only had bath towels until we asked for hand towels, no wash clothes available. They supply bar soap and shampoo packets, bathroom had a blow dryer. Each room varies, ours, the suite Arenal, had two double beds and a single, two lounge chairs, TV & AC. Huge bathroom with large walk in shower. Decent beds, room a bit buggy. Room safe didn't work but staff gave me a key so we could use it. Small but guarded parking lot. In town close to several bus stops, shops and restaurants but...

For work reasons I had stayed at this hotel before 2014. In 2022 I had to stay again and it has become a very dirty hotel, zero maintenance by its owners. They have a plague of pigeons that make everything dirty and in the ceiling of my room there were mice. Really a nightmare. ||The only redeemable thing about the place is its staff characterized by a friendly treatment and trying to solve all the needs of the guests that the owners...

Varios puntos para hablar. El costo por noche está aceptable. El edificio es bonito con puertas en las habitaciones muy bonitas talladas en madera con motivos muy costarricenses, y una piscina en la que se puede refrescar del calor guanacasteco, lastimosamente al edificio le falta mucho mantenimiento. Los techos tipo tejas todos quebrados, parte de la cerámica de los pisos quebrada. Los almohadones de las sillas del restaurante muy viejos y mohidos. Incluye desayuno, muy básico pinto, huevo frito o revuelto natilla y un pedazo de tortilla, café y jugo. El personal todos muy atentos y amables además de que de lunes a viernes tienen música en vivo que transmite Balo Gómez en su canal, muy agradable. Realmente es un plus. Me gustó que limpiaron la habitación, pusieron toallas limpias y jabones nuevos. Bueno es un hotel decente en el que se puede pasar un par de noches si se tiene que hacer alguna vuelta en Santa Cruz. Un detalle especialmente para las mujeres que nos teñimos el cabello, cuidado al usar la piscina y luego secarse con el paño del hotel porque si lo mancha cobran la "módica" suma de 10 mil colones. Me pareció demasiado por un paño. Creo que sobrevaloran...
